The Cubs had their two-game win streak snapped in their last game, but they are still in first place in the tight NL Central. 2015 Cy Young winner Arrieta has been given a lot of help from the Cubs lineup on the season and he has not pitched like an Ace this season. Boston has lost two in a row and four of their last five games and their offense is struggling. They only scored one run in their last two games and in their last seven games they have only totaled 13 runs. Pomeranz has had success against the Cubs in his career, but they will get to him in this game. He is a lefty and Chicago has won their last seven games facing left hand starters. Look for that trend to continue and what will also continue is Boston’s lineup and the visiting Cubs will take the first game of this series.

The Royals are coming off a road trip where they lost their seven games and they have to be happy to be home where they have won five of their last six games. Kansas City ranks dead last in the Majors in runs scored and in their seven-game skid they only totaled 13 runs. However, they are back at home and face Twins’ starter Gibson, who has been less than stellar in his last few starts. He is looking for his first win of the season, but it will not come in this game. Kennedy was not sharp facing the Twins in his season debut, but he has pitched well as of late and he will get some support in this game and have a good outing leading Kansas City to a win, which will snap their seven-game slide.

The Dodgers have lost three of their last five games and their offense has struggled in the last few games. They turn to Urias to help them salvage a split in this series and he was a highly touted rookie last season, who had a pretty good debut campaign. The Giants are in last place in the NL West and while it is no surprise their offense has struggled to score runs it is one that their pitching has struggled. They had lost four in a row before taking two of three games in this series. Moore has been tagged up in three of his four starts this season and look for that to continue in this game. On the other side of the coin Urias will pick off where he left off in the minors and have a good outing leading the Dodgers to a win.

Since their eight-game winning streak the Yankees have dropped three of five games. In their last series they faced the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three-game set scoring four runs combined in two losses and 11 in the win. Their lineup will going up against Porcello, who won 20 games last season and had his best start of the season in his last outing. The Red Sox avoided the sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles beating them in their last game where they scored six runs after only totaling two in the first two games of the series. They had success facing Severino last season and that will continue this season starting in this game. The Red Sox lineup will wake up, Porcello will have a 2nd straight strong outing, and Boston will take the first game of this AL East rivalry series.

The Astros have won four of their last five games and they have the 2nd most wins in the Majors. Keuchel has been lights out on the season and looks to become the first pitcher with four wins tonight. Tomlin settled down in his last outing after giving up 13 earned runs in five innings in his previous two starts. Cleveland had their five-game winning streak snapped in their last game when they only scored two runs. They may not get to that total in this game facing Keuchel. On the other side of the coin the Houston lineup will give him some runs of support off Tomlin and the Astros will win and take the first game of this AL series.

This is match up of similar teams not just because they are both below .500, but each has had great pitching on the season, but have struggled to score runs. The Royals were swept in their last series and in dropping four games to the Texas Rangers they only totaled five runs. KC has lost their last five home games, but have Vargas on the hill, who has been lights out so far this season. However, can he get any support from a struggling lineup that ranks dead last in the Majors in runs scored? I would say no. Gonzalez is coming off a great start as well and in this pitchers duel he will get the better of Vargas and the White Sox will take the first game of this series and send the Royals to their 5th straight loss.

This game is an AL match up of two teams heading in different directions, as the Rangers have won four in a row while the Twins have lost two in a row and six of their last seven games. Texas swept their four-game set in their last series against the Royals with solid pitching only giving up a total of five runs. On the other side of the coin Minnesota has given up a total of 18 runs in their last two games. Both Hughes and Perez struggled in their last outing, but Perez is the one that will bounce back at home. Hughes will struggle for his 3rd straight start and the Rangers will get the win in this game to move to .500 on the season.

The Marlins look for the series win today after dropping the first game of the series and winning the 2nd. Koehler has not pitched well in his last two starts, but he has had success facing the Padres in his career and he will have a good outing today. Not only have the Marlins won eight of his last starts facing a team with a losing record, but also have won seven of his last eight starts facing teams from the NL West. The Miami bats will get to the recently activated Perdomo and they will win this game and take the series.

The Blue Jays have the fewest wins in the Majors and they had won two of three games before losing to the Angels in Game 2 of this series yesterday. They have struggled at the plate and on the mound this season and Stroman was lit up in his last start after a complete game in his previous one. Toronto recently got some more bad news, as SS Troy Tulowitzki, who leads the team in RBI, was just placed on the DL with a hamstring injury. Still, I think the Blue Jays bats will come alive in this game facing Wright. The Angels did win yesterday against the Blue Jays, but they have lost nine of their last 11 games. Stroman will have a decent outing and the Toronto lineup will be the difference maker, as the Blue Jays will win this game.

Aquino was not only solid in the spring with the big club, but in his last start in the minors he did not give up any earned runs in six innings. He will get his first MLB start for a Baltimore team that has won three in a row and four of their last five games. The Orioles have only totaled six runs in winning three straight, but their pitching has been superb. However, they will put up runs in this game lighting up Wright like they did facing him a little over a week ago. Boston has lost two of their last three games and both were shutout losses. Aquino will have a good starting debut and the Orioles will help him with run support, as they will take the 2nd game of this AL East series.

The Yankees are the betting favorite in this interleague game even though they have lost two of their last three games and are only 2-5 on the road. Michael Pineda is coming off a solid last start, but he will give up some runs in this game. The Pirates had lost three in a row before their win in Game 1 yesterday. They rank in the bottom of the pack in runs scored, but they put up six yesterday and they will have some success facing Pineda today. The reason that the Pirates will win is that Taillon will have another great outing and will silence the New York bats. The Pirates will take this game and get one game closer to .500.

The Astros are hot winners of two in a row and seven of their last eight games and they have the most wins in the Majors. Their pitching has been superb lately and they have only given up one run in each of their last two games. Look for them to keep the Rays lineup in check in this game, as Fiers will rebound and have a strong start in the Sunshine State tonight. On the other side of the coin look for Cobb to struggle for a 3rd straight start and the Astros will take the first game of this AL series.

The Cardinals are coming off a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates where they won each of the games by a 2-1 score. Their pitching was great in that series, but their offense struggled and that has been the case for St. Louis this whole season. Martinez and Davies are both looking for their first win of the season and each gave up three runs in five innings in their last starts. While the Cardinals’ offense has struggled at the dish they will get a strong performance from Martinez, who dominated Milwaukee last season. St. Louis may continue their offensive woes, but Martinez will carry them to a win, which will be their 4th in a row and they will send the Brewers below .500.

After a bad start the Royals have gotten back on track and with their last win got to .500. The reason they are winning is their pitching, which has only given up a total of six runs in their last seven games and in their last three games they have two shutouts. They have needed good pitching, as they have struggled at the plate all season and rank dead last in the Majors in runs scored. In their last seven games they have only scored a total of 17 runs and seven came in one game. The Rangers have lost two straight and five of their last six games and in their last two games they have only totaled three runs. Their lineup will struggle again facing Duffy, who has been solid on the season. KC may not score a lot of runs, but they will not need to, as they will win another low scoring affair taking the first game of this AL series.

The Blue Jays have gotten off to a terrible start and they have the fewest wins in the Majors by far. They have lost two straight where their pitching has been hammered giving up a total of 19 runs. Toronto ranks dead last in baseball in runs scored as well, but even with all of those things they are the pick in this game. Porcello was rocked in his last outing and in three starts this season he has gone 16 innings and has given up 14 earned runs. On the other side of the coin Liriano was solid in his last start, but got little run support. However, he will get some in this game and the Blue Jays will win, even the series, and pick up their 3rd win on the young season.

The Reds have won two of their last three games and they are alone in first place in the NL Central. They had lost eight in a row to teams from the AL East before beating the Orioles in the first game of this series yesterday. Not sure why the Reds are not the home favorite since Garrett has gotten off to a great rookie campaign while Jimenez has been lit up and has an ERA north of 10.00. The Orioles have lost two of their last three games and while they have won both of Jimenez’s starts giving him a lot of run support that will not happen in this game. What will happen is that Jimenez will get tagged up again, Garrett will have a good outing, and the Reds will take the 2nd game of this inter league series.

The Indians have won seven of their last eight games facing the Twins and won Game 1 of this series yesterday, but they are the road favorite in this game with Tomlin, who has an ERA north of 18.00? Well, the Twins have lost two in a row and three of their last four games and in their last two games they have only totaled two runs. They have cooled off after a hot start, but Hughes has been pretty good so far on the season and in his last start got a lot of run support. That will happen again in this game, as the Twins will break out of their mini slump at the plate and light up Tomlin, who will struggle again in his 3rd straight outing. Minnesota will take this game and even the series at 1-1.

The Tigers have won two of their last three games and they are in first place in the AL Central. The Rays are reeling, as after a solid start they have dropped six of their last seven games including their last three. They have struggled at the plate as of late and that is not good facing Detroit starter Fulmer, who has been pretty solid this season. Detroit has scored 17 runs in their last three games and their offense will get to Andriese tonight even though he is coming off a solid start. The Tigers’ bats will be the difference maker in this game, as Detroit will get the win and send the Rays to their 4th straight loss.

On the other side of the coin L.A. has really struggled at the plate in their five-game slide only totaling nine runs. Chavez was not sharp in his last outing and he will be facing a red-hot Astros lineup and he will struggle again. Morton will have a decent outing, but Houston will get the W as they will light up the scoreboard yet again. The Astros will get their 5th win in a row and send the Angels to their 6th straight loss.

The White Sox have won four of their last five games and in three of those wins they did not score more than three runs. Chicago has had great pitching this season, but they have struggled at the plate. In two games, both wins, they combined for 21 runs, but in their nine other games they have only combined for 16 runs. Holland has been solid in his first two starts of the season, but will get into some trouble facing a New York lineup that has totaled 42 runs On top of that Montgomery will have another decent start and the Yankees will win their 8th in a row.
