Nashville vs. San Jose Game 7 Overview

Give Nashville all the credit in the world for forcing a Game 7 as a series underdog. The main obstacle to keeping this impressive run going is winning on the road. The Predators needed a thrilling 2-1 victory as +149 road underdogs to get past Anaheim in seven games in their first playoff series, but they are 0-3 at the SAP Center against the Sharks. The total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in all six games.

In Monday's 4-3 overtime win as slight +105 home underdogs, the Predators got a huge goal from Colin Wilson to tie the game up in the third period before Viktor Arvidsson knocked-in the game winner in overtime. Wilson has led the team in points in the postseason with five goals and eight assists. Filip Forsberg led the way in the regular season (64 points), but he has just two goals and two assists in 13 playoff games. Another player that is going to have to step things up is goalie Pekka Rinne after allowing three or more goals in his last three starts.

San Jose has to be thankful for the home ice advantage in this series after losing all three of its road games in Nashville. The Sharks outscored the Predators 13-5 in those three wins and they are now 4-1 at home in five postseason appearances. They were able to beat Los Angeles three-straight times on the road to win that series in five games. The total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in nine of 11 games this postseason.

Defenseman Brent Burns continues to play at a high level in the playoffs with a team-high 11 assists to go along with four goals, but to get past Nashville on Thursday night the Sharks will still need their top sharpshooters Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton at their best. They were the team's top two scorers in the regular season and through 11 playoff games they have combined for 10 goals and 11 assists. The pressure will also be dialed-up on goalie Martin Jones after giving-up four goals on 32 shots in Monday's loss.

Nashville Predators at San Jose Sharks Prediction

Home ice has prevailed through the first six games of this series so there is no reason to changes things up in a deciding Game 7. However, in light of the upward scoring trend in this series I am going with the better value in the OVER on the total line as my "best bet" pick.
