Boston at Ottawa Game Overview

Boston drew first blood in this best-of-seven series with a tight 2-1 victory on Wednesday night as a -120 road favorite. The total stayed UNDER the closing five-goal line. Going back to a late-March victory against the New York Islanders, the Bruins have now won seven of their last nine games with the total staying UNDER in eight of those nine contests. Boston was 21-14-6 on the road in the regular season.

Wednesday’s win was not pretty in a defensive battle, but Boston was able to get the key goal from Brad Marchand late in the third period to secure the win. One injury concern for Saturday’s contest is defenseman Colin Miller, who is listed as questionable after hurting his knee in Game 1. Center David Krejci also remains questionable after missing the series opener with an upper body injury. Tuukka Rask got the start in goal for the Bruins and he turned away 26 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Senators have something to prove after opening as rare home underdogs when the series price betting odds were first released. They finished second to Montreal in the Atlantic Division with 98 total points after winning three of their last four games including a 2-1 victory against Boston on April 6 as +180 road underdogs. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games. Ottawa posted a 22-11-8 record on its home ice this season.

Following a scoreless first period, Bobby Ryan gave the Senators the early lead with the only goal scored in the second period. The defense did its part by not allowing a single shot on goal in that middle period. Craig Anderson got the call between the pipes and after shutting Boston down for the first two stanzas, he allowed two goals on 11 shots in the third. Ottawa was 10th in the NHL this season in goals allowed (2.6), but it is going to need more production from an offense that was 22nd in goals scored (2.5).

Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators Prediction

These two rivals have been playing each other tough all season long and I would expect another close matchup on Saturday. Ottawa swept the regular season series 4-0 and I like the Senators as slight underdogs to even things up in Game 2, but the best way to bet this game is the UNDER on the five-goal total line.

The total has now stayed UNDER in five of the last seven meetings dating back to last season and I am looking for this trend to hold true on Saturday afternoon.
