Point Spread: Buccaneers -2
Total: 45

Tampa Bay couldn’t make several FGs in a 19-14 loss to New England last Thursday. Arizona was humbled 34-7 by Philadelphia last Sunday.

The Buccaneers’ offense received a boost with the return of RB Doug Martin last week. He ran for 74 yards at a 5.7 ypc clip. His presence will take some pressure off of QB Jameis Winston to try and win games by himself. For all of their defensive woes (32 ppg allowed in their losses), the Cardinals’ run defense has held up (3.2 ypc average). Tampa Bay can’t get discouraged if they find rough sledding early. Winston has an acceptable TD/INT ratio of 7-3 but must make better decisions this week. CB Patrick Peterson is a great cover corner and Winston would be wise not to challenge him too much. He has enough weapons at his disposal so that he doesn’t have to lock on to WR Mike Evans at every crucial point in the game. Winston has been sacked only 7 times this year while LB Chandler Jones is the only Cardinals defender with more than 1 sack.

Arizona welcomes RB Adrian Peterson this week after acquiring him in a trade but it’s doubtful he sees much action. The ground game has been dormant (45.6 ypg) since RB David Johnson went out with injury and look for RB Andre Ellington to get the most carries this week. Teams have been teeing off on immobile QB Carson Palmer, sacking him 17 times. Tampa Bay has managed only 4 sacks on the year but should be able to make some noise this week against an o-line suffering from the loss of several injured starters. Palmer has had his struggles in the passing game (5-5 TD/INT ratio, 59% completion pct., 78.2 QB rating) but he still has solid receivers at his disposal. Tampa Bay’s pass defense hasn’t been as good as their run defense but a better pass rush will force Palmer into some quick throws and possibly mistakes.

Public Money Consensus

In this Week 6 NFL matchup between Tampa Bay and Arizona have the public leaning to the Buccaneers minus the 2 points with 67% while the over/under bettors are definitively thinking this game will go over the posted total line of 45 with 73%.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals Week 6 ATS Prediction

The Cardinals have needed OT to beat the lowly Colts and 49ers and have lost by double digits to their 3 other opponents. With no running game and an injury-ravaged o-line, Palmer is being asked to do too much. The Bucs haven’t looked like world beaters either but the return of Martin does help their offense and their pass rushers should have a good day against Arizona. The number is less than a FG and I like Tampa to get a big road win this week.
