The two best teams in the NFL this season meet for all the marbles when the AFC champion Chiefs and NFC champion Eagles do battle in Super Bowl LVII (that's 57, for all you non-Romans out there) Sunday evening in Arizona.

Kansas City was the top seed in the AFC playoffs and beat the Jaguars and Bengals to reach the Super Bowl for the third time over the last four seasons. Philadelphia was the top seed in the NFC and pummeled the Giants and short-handed 49ers to reach its second Super Bowl over the last six seasons.

Which way are we going here for our free Super Bowl 57 betting pick?

Super Bowl LVII Betting Lines

The Super Bowl LVII betting odds opened this game at right around a pick 'em, with an over/under of 51. Early betting action then slid Philadelphia into a point and a half favorite.

Super Bowl LVII Betting Preview

Kansas City reached this Super Bowl by outlasting Cincinnati in a tough AFC championship game two weeks ago at Arrowhead 23-20. The Chiefs scored the first six points of that game and led 13-6 at the half. Later, with the game tied at 20-20, Kansas City got a great punt return, then huge help from a Bengals roughing penalty to set up the game-winning field goal with three seconds left.

The Chiefs out-gained Cincinnati 357-309, converted 8/15 on 3rd and 4th downs, and won the turnover battle 2-1.

Three weeks ago, KC beat Jacksonville in a divisional-round game 27-20. The Chiefs out-gained the Jags that day 362-349 and dominated time of possession by a 35:25 split. But a very late Jacksonville field goal cost Kansas City the cover as a 7.5-point favorite.

Philadelphia reached this Super Bowl by stuffing San Francisco in the NFC championship game two weeks ago, 31-7. The Eagles drove the opening possession of the game 66 yards to a touchdown, allowed the 49ers to tie the game at 7-7, then dominated the rest of the way. Philly scored twice in the last two minutes of the first half to lead 21-7 into the locker room and blanked the Niners from there after knocking both San Francisco quarterbacks out of the game.

The Eagles out-gained the 49ers 269-164, out-rushed San Francisco 148-81, won the turnover battle 3-0, and possessed the ball for over 37 minutes.

Three weeks ago, Philly disposed of the Giants in a divisional-round bout 38-7. The Eagles led that game 28-0 at the half, out-gained New York 416-227, ran the ball for 268 yards, and dominated TOP by a 36:24 split.

On the injury front Kansas City QB Mahomes is still dealing with a sore ankle; he won't be 100 percent Sunday, but he'll be better than he was two weeks ago against Cincinnati, and he played great that day.

These two teams last met two seasons ago, a 42-30 Chiefs victory at Philly. That was a one-score game midway through the fourth quarter until Kansas City scored twice in four minutes to pull away.

Also, that game played Over a total of 53 as the teams combined for over 900 yards of total offense.

Common Opponents

These two teams played six common opponents this season; Arizona, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Houston. The Chiefs played those foes to 6-1 SU but 2-4-1 ATS, the Eagles to 6-0 SU, 3-3 ATS.

Zank's Super Bowl LXVII Pick ATS

We could praise both these teams and these quarterbacks and these coaches all day, but our bottom line is this; Philadelphia owns the better running game and the better defense. And in the NFL, the teams that out-gain their opponents on the ground cover the spread about 65 percent of the time. Also, we love that Eagles' pass rush. We're betting Philadelphia to win this Super Bowl LVII Sunday.
