Seattle had their bye last week. New York upset Denver 23-10 last Sunday for their first win of the season.

The Seahawks have scored 16 points or less in 3 of their 5 games this year. The running game started to show some life with rookie RB Chris Carson but he is out this week. The remaining RBs on the roster have collectively averaged 2.6 ypc in 2017. That has put extra pressure on QB Russell Wilson and while he’s played well, he is frequently running for his life behind a patchwork o-line. New York’s run defense has been so-so on the year but played well last week. Wilson and WR Doug Baldwin have built solid chemistry over the past few seasons but an emerging TE Jimmy Graham could be the player the Giants have to worry about. NY’s defending of opposing TEs is the worst in the league so look for them to pay extra attention to Graham. Wilson has been sacked 13 times on the year but has been under pressure many times. Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul has 4.5 sacks on the year and the defense is capable of making things difficult for Wilson in the backfield.

New York got a strong performance from RB Orleans Darkwa against the Broncos (21-117) and a productive running game is the Giants best shot to stay close this Sunday. The Seahawks are allowing 127 ypg and a hefty 4.9 ypc average on the year. Rookie RB Wayne Gallman has also gotten more carries recently and has been productive. Still, NY averages only 89.5 ypg so expecting a huge day on the ground may be asking too much behind their beleaguered o-line. QB Eli Manning found out what life was like without his top pass catchers last week and now faces a secondary that has recaptured some lost glory. Rookie TE Evan Engram had a big day against the Broncos and could be the main target again in this matchup, especially if he draws SS Kam Chancellor. Manning has been sacked 16 times on the year but DEs Cliff Avril (out) and Michael Bennett (foot, check status) could miss this game. Seattle has 11 sacks in 5 games but should up that total against this o-line.

<p>
In this Week 7 of the NFL matchup between Seattle and New York Giants have the public leaning slightly to the Seahawks to cover the 5.5 point spread on the road with 54% on board. The over/under bettors appear to be more positive that the game score will stay under the posted total line of 40 with over 70%.

Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants Week 7 ATS Prediction

Seattle gets a break as they play another late-starting game on the east coast. They are historically bad against the number after their bye (8-21-1) but I just can’t back this New York team this week. Both teams have porous o-lines, maybe the 2 worst units in the league. Both teams have had trouble establishing the run and lack elite passing options. I see this game as a defensive slugfest with both offenses struggling to find a rhythm and maintain scoring drives. Therefore, I’ll take the under in this contest.
