The final game in Sunday’s NFC Divisional Round of playoffs should be a good one with the Philadelphia Eagles going on the road to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to face the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff on FOX is slated for 4:40 p.m.

Philadelphia at New Orleans Overview

Going back to a 48-7 road loss to New Orleans as seven-point underdogs in Week 11, most Eagles’ fans started to turn their attention to this year’s NFL draft. Following Sunday’s stunning 16-15 upset against Chicago as 6.5-point underdogs on the road, those same fans are focusing on another possible Super Bowl run. It will be a tall task to get past the Saints this time as well, but Philly is 4-1-1 against the spread in its last six games.

It all starts with Nick Foles taking over for an injured Carson Wentz for the last three games of the regular season. The Eagles went on to upset the Los Angeles Rams on the road followed by victories against Houston at home and Washington on the road to steal the last playoff spot in the NFC. The entire team has been playing at a much higher level since the big beatdown in the Big Easy, and that loss should be a big motivating factor this time around.

The Saints have set the pace in this conference all season long at 13-3 SU, but they did look a bit shaky down the stretch in SU losses to Dallas on the road and to Carolina at home while falling to 1-4 ATS over their last five games. Going back to that win against Philadelphia, the total has stayed UNDER in five of New Orleans' previous seven games. It is an even 4-4 ATS playing at home as part of an overall record of 10-6 covering the closing number.

If Drew Brees plays to form throwing the ball and Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram make enough big plays running and catching the ball out of the backfield, it could be another long afternoon for the Eagles. Along with Michael Thomas leading the team in receptions with 125 for 1,405 yards and nine scores, the Saints’ firepower on offense could be too much to handle. The bigger matchup could be New Orleans’ defense keeping Foles in check from making a few big plays of his own.

Eagles at Saints Prediction 01/13/2019

The Saints have been able to establish themselves as the team to beat in the NFC this season, especially playing on their home field. However, betting against the Eagles right now comes with some added risk given their current form.

I would still pencil in New Orleans for next week’s NFC title game, but I am taking Philly and the eight points to keep things interesting enough to cover.
