Philadelphia at Chicago Game Overview

<p>
The Eagles opened their season at home against Cleveland and following a slow start they were able to pull away in the second half to win 29-10 as four-point favorites. The total stayed UNDER the 41.5-point closing line. Philadelphia comes into this game with a 4-2 record both straight-up and against the spread in its last six games and the total has gone OVER in four of their last five games on the road.

<p>
When the Eagles decided to trade Sam Bradford to Minnesota right before the start of the regular season it paved the way for rookie Carson Wentz to take over the reins as the team’s starting quarterback. He posted a pretty solid NFL debut with 278 yards passing and two touchdown throws while completing 22 of his 37 attempts. The Eagles also did a good job moving the ball on the ground with 133 yards rushing and a score on 34 attempts. Philadelphia’s defense did its part by holding Robert Griffin III to just 190 passing on the day.

<p>
Chicago will be looking to avoid a 0-2 start after coming up short in a 23-14 loss to Houston last Sunday as a 4.5-point underdog on the road. The total in that game stayed UNDER 43 after going OVER in four of its previous five games. The Bears ended last season with a SU five-game losing streak on their home field while going a costly 1-4 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games played at Soldier Field.

<p>
The Bears took a four-point lead into halftime of last week’s game, but they gave up 13 unanswered points to the Texans in the second half to go down in defeat. Jay Cutler was not at his best against a tough Houston defense. He completed 16 of his 29 passing attempts for 216 yards and a score, but he was also picked off once and sacked five times. Jeremy Langford ran the ball 17 times for 57 yards and a score as part of Chicago’s 73 total rushing yards. Overall, the Bears were held to just 258 yards of total offense.

Philadelphia at Chicago Prediction

Philadelphia did have the benefit of playing Cleveland at home on opening day, but it still looked good on both sides of the ball while Chicago’s struggles on offense appeared to have carried over from last year when it was ranked 21st in the NFL in total yards and 23rd in scoring.

I went with the Eagles last week laying 3.5 points at home and I am going to ride them again with the three points on the road this week as my “best bet” pick for Monday night.
