Oakland moved to 4-0 on the road in 2016 with a 33-16 win over Jacksonville last week. Tampa Bay came out of their bye week with a resounding 34-17 win over San Francisco last Sunday.

The Raiders achieved offensive balance last week as the ground game came alive with 144 yards (4.2 ypc) against the Jaguars. They will face a run defense this week that yielded 160 yards (5.7 ypc) to a 49ers team missing RB Carlos Hyde. The Bucs have been solid against the run for most of the year and 84 of those yards came from QB Colin Kaepernick. Oakland has a lot of speed in the backfield and will want to get their runners in space via quick tosses or short passes. QB David Carr has a 13-3 TD/INT ratio and is becoming one of the league’s top QBs. He wasn’t sacked last week and has been dropped only 7 times on the year. Tampa Bay had 4 sacks last week against a below-average 49ers o-line but will get a stiff test in this matchup. They have 13 sacks in 6 games but no one player has more than three. They will also have to deal with WR Michael Crabtree as he has taken his game to another level this year. His 6 receiving TDs lead the club and the Buccaneers have had issues defending the pass in 2016.

The Bucs are hoping to get RB Doug Martin back at some point but didn’t need him last week as they trampled the San Francisco defense for 249 yards. RB Jacquizz Rodgers continued his career rebirth with 154 yards and whenever Martin comes back, Rodgers will still get his carries. Oakland’s run defense has been spotty to say the least as they allow 5.0 ypc. Look for a heavy dose of the run by Tampa Bay in this contest. QB Jameis Winston tossed 3 TD passes last week but also an interception, giving him 9 on the year. The Raiders pass defense was atrocious early on this season but they have turned it around in recent weeks. DE Khalil Mack had another sack last week as he is beginning to overcome his slow start. Oakland has to be aware of big WR Mike Evans (40-545-6) as he has become the clear go-to-guy for this offense. TE Cameron Brate figures to get some targets as the Raiders have had their problems with TEs over the years.

In this week 8 of the NFL the game matchup between the Raiders and the Buc’s sees the public heavily favoring David Carr and his team to win this game at 75%. The over/under bettors are also quite committed to the game going over the posted line of 49.5 by over 80%.

Oakland Raiders at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Prediction

This is a big game for both clubs as the Raiders are tied for the division lead and the Buccaneers are only a game behind the Falcons. Tampa Bay’s defense has been up and down this year and I think they will have trouble defending the big-play offense of Oakland. Winston has been prone to big mistakes in 2016 and while he handled the 49ers pretty handily, he must now deal with the better team by the bay. The Raiders have shown themselves to be road warriors this season and a 2nd-consecutive game in Florida means no long trips home in between. I see Carr outplaying Winston in this game and giving the Raiders another big road win.
