New York was shut out 23-0 by Denver last Sunday. New Orleans dropped a close 20-17 decision to Atlanta last Thursday.

The Jets lost QB Josh McCown for the season with a broken hand in the Broncos loss. QB Bryce Petty came in and was 2-9 for 14 yards. The young signalcaller has done nothing in his short NFL career to show that he is starter worthy and he gets a tough matchup this week. The Saints held the Falcons to 211 passing yards and picked off 3 passes. Their TD/INT ratio for the season is now 19-14, very good for a defense that has been shredded in recent years. WRs Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson were flourishing under McCown but I don’t see that continuing with Petty under center. New Orleans has allowed 217 passing ypg on the year and also have 35 sacks. Jets QBs have been sacked 39 times in 2017 and I expect Petty to go down multiple times this Sunday. The running game was also stymied in Denver (23-59) and averages less than 4 ypc on the year. RBs Bilal Powell, Matt Forte and rookie Elijah McGuire will be expected to do the heavy lifting this week but look for the Saints to overplay the run and force Petty to make plays consistently with his arm.

NO QB Drew Brees hasn’t put up staggering numbers this year but the team has been winning with a newfound running game and consistent play from Brees. He played well against Atlanta and has a 19-6 TD/INT ratio. He has been sacked only 17 times despite injuries on the o-line. He usually looks for WR Michael Thomas (85-992-4) but is very adept at hitting his RBs for big plays. RBs Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara (concussion, probable) have teamed for 109 catches, 937 yards and 4 scores. The Jets have been good at defending RBs this season but this is a big step up in class for them. Ingram and Kamara have also been a lethal duo on the ground, combining for 1,579 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs. NY’s run defense was great against Denver (35-84) but had been allowing 120 ypg before that outing. I look for Ingram and Kamara to do damage both on the ground and through the air as their varied skill sets are hard for defenses to contain.

New York Jets at New Orleans Saints Week 15 Game Prediction

I don’t expect much from Petty and feel New Orleans can contain this offense at home. On the flip side, the Jets defense has held 8 of their last 11 opponents to 25 points or less. They don’t have a lot of stars on that side of the ball but they have exceeded expectations with their hard work and desire. While I look for the Saints to be able to move the ball, I don’t see a scorefest in the offing. Therefore, I think the Under is the way to go in this one.
