Point Spread: Jets -2.5
Total: 43

The resilient Jets extended their current straight-up winning streak to five games with this past Sunday's crucial 26-20 upset against New England in overtime as 2.5-point home underdogs. They have gone a profitable 4-0-1 against the spread during this run and while the total went OVER 45.5 points in the win against the Patriots, it had stayed UNDER in four of their previous six contests.

New York's chances to make the playoffs were prohibitively low coming down the stretch, but a fortuitous loss by Pittsburgh in Week 16 opened the door to a "win and you are in" scenario for this AFC East matchup. There is no doubt that the Jets bring a ton of momentum into this game, but the biggest thing in their favor is the recent play of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. He threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns to help pace the win over New England and on the year he has now passed for 3,724 yards and 29 scores against just 12 interceptions.

The Bills were only able to post one SU win in their previous five games heading into a Week 16 matchup at home against Dallas, but they grinded-out a 16-6 victory as 6.5-point favorites to improve to 7-8 SU and 7-7-1 ATS on the year. The total stayed well UNDER the closing 42-point line against the Cowboys after it went OVER in three of their previous four contests.

It would be hard to call this a lost season for Buffalo in Rex Ryan's first year at the helm as head coach, but the season-ending 2-4 SU slide has to be considered a disappointing development. The Bills still have the No. 1 rushing offense in the NFL with an average of 154.6 yards a game. LeSean McCoy is shutdown for the season with a knee injury, but the offense got some solid production from rookie running back Karlos Williams with 493 yards on 87 carries. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor also proved to be a duel threat with 2,853 yards passing and 20 touchdown throws to go along with another 517 yards and three scores on the ground.

The Jets are 1-2-2 ATS in their last five road games, but they have won six of their last nine games on the road SU. The total has gone OVER in three of their last five road games.

The Bills are 7-3 both SU and ATS in their last 10 homes games and as an underdog this season they have gone an even 3-3-1. The total has stayed UNDER in 11 of their last 16 games played at home.

Head-to-head in this AFC East clash, Buffalo has a 5-1 edge both SU and ATS including a 22-17 victory on Nov. 12 as a 2.5-point underdog on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in four of the six meetings in Buffalo.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills Prediction

The Bills would love to play the role of spoiler against their bitter rivals, but I do not see them getting the chance. New York is playing its best ball at the right time of the year, so I am laying the 2.5 points on the road with a "best bet" pick of the Jets covering.
