The Jets will be looking to quickly bounce back from a tough last-minute 23-22 loss to Cincinnati as one-point underdogs at home in Week 1. The total went OVER the 42-point closing line. They now have to head on the road where they have not been all that successful the past few seasons with a straight-up record of 8-17 in their last 25 games away from home.

New York turned the corner last season with a SU record of 10-6 after posting eight or fewer wins in each of its previous four campaigns, but it is losses like last Sunday’s that make you question whether or not this team knows how to win close games. Trailing by four points heading into the fourth quarter, the Jets were able to carve out a two point lead on a pair of field goals with less than four minutes to play, but they could not hold on for the win. Give credit to newcomer Matt Forte who led the way on offense with 96 rushing yards and 59 receiving yards on the day.

Buffalo is another team that appears to be snake bit at times following a SU 8-8 record in 2015. The Bills opened up the new season on the road against Baltimore as three-point underdogs and they went on to lose that game 13-7 with the total staying well UNDER the 44.5-point closing line. The total has now stayed UNDER in four of their last five games dating back to last season.

<p>
The Bills only score of the game came on a 16-yard run by LeSean McCoy in the second quarter. He ended the game with 58 yards rushing on 16 carries. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor added another 11 yards on five rushing attempts and Buffalo really struggled to move the ball on the ground after leading the NFL in total rushing yards last season. Taylor did not fare so well throwing the ball either with just 111 yards on the day. He did complete 15-of-22 attempts, but most of those passes went for very short gains. Sammy Watkins had four receptions for 43 yards, but he is listed as day-to-day with pain in his recent surgically repaired foot.

Neither of these evenly matched teams can afford to fall into a 0-2 hole right out of the gate, but you would probably have to give the slight edge to Buffalo for this Thursday night’s matchup given its recent success in this AFC East clash.

BetOnline is dangling an awfully low total line in this game, but I still cannot see either offense scoring more than 20 points on the night so I am going to bite on the UNDER 40.5 as my “best bet” pick.
