The New Orleans Saints (1-0 SU, 0-1 ATS) will take to the road for Week Two of the 2016-17 NFL season, as they travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the New York Giants (1-0 SU, 0-1 ATS). Kick-off is set for 1:00 PM ET and set to air on FOX in regional markets. The Saints come in off a gut-wrenching 35-34 nailbite defeat at home against the Oakland Raiders. The Giants were benefactors a similar result when they won 20-19 in Dallas against their hated rivals the Cowboys.

The Saints seemingly have revamped their traditionally potent aerial offense as Drew Brees certainly looked worthy of MVP mention in the Saints’ opener at Oakland as Brees went for 423 passing yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The Saints also feature a talented duo of young wide receivers in Willie Snead and Brandin Cooks. Brees targeted the couple 18 times and found the end zone three times. In addition, Cooks and Snead accumulated over 300 receiving yards combined.

The Giants endured difficulties on offense in their hard fought win against Dallas as the Cowboys were starting a rookie QB in lieu of veteran Tony Romo who went down with an injury in the preseason and yet the Giants could barely get by. This result was fostered with Victor Cruz and by some account the game’s best receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. Eli Manning threw for just 207 yards and there was no receiver in the Giants’ ranks with a 100-yard day. The Giants could only produce just over 300 yards of offense. The Saints went over 500 yards in their loss against Oakland.

New Orleans Saints at New York Giants Prediction

The Saints have always had two issues that have held them back from going to the next level. The first issue is that the Saints do not play well outside of the Superdome. New Orleans has lost many games they should have won both in the regular season and in the playoffs when they were away from home. Second, New Orleans has had and continues to deal with many woes on defense. Look no further than the Saints producing 500 yards of offense and 34 points and losing….Simply put the lack of defense by the Saints combined with the Giants’ home-field advantage should be enough for us to lay the visiting points. While this game may in fact be yet another shootout, the Giants have the intangibles in their favor. Expect this game to not be as much of a shootout as we saw last year, when there was over 100 total points scored and over 1,000 yards of offense.
