Minnesota at Green Bay Game Overview

The Vikings hammered Cincinnati 34-7 on Sunday as 12.5-point home favorites to clinch the NFC North Division title. Their next goal is to clinch a first-round bye with victories in their last two games starting with Saturday night against their bitter rival. Minnesota has covered against the spread in eight of its last nine games as part of an overall record of 10-4 ATS. It is 4-3 ATS in its first seven road games this season.

Case Keenum turned in another strong performance at quarterback with 236 yards passing and two touchdown throws against the Bengals while completing 20 of the 23 passes he threw. Jerick McKinnon was on the receiving end of seven of those completions for 114 yards with Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph accounting for the two touchdown catches. The Vikings come into Saturday night’s game ranked 10th in the NFL in scoring with 24.5 points per game and eighth in total yards gained.

Green Bay’s slim playoff chances probably expired on the field against Carolina in a tough 31-24 loss as a 2.5-point road underdog. This was the Packers’ third SU loss in their last five games and after failing to cover on Sunday they are also 7-7 ATS. The total went OVER 46.5 points against the Panthers and it has gone OVER six of their last seven games.

The return of Aaron Rodgers to the starting lineup did add a spark to a Green Bay offense that has slipped to 23rd in the league in yards gained, but his overall performance was not enough to secure a much needed win. He ended the game with 290 passing yards and three touchdown throws, but he was also picked off three times to go with Carolina’s three sacks. The Packers decided to shut Rodgers down for the last two games of the season, but the bigger issue with this team all season long has been a defense that is 26th in the NFL in yards allowed. This unit was torched for 387 total yards in Sunday’s loss.

Minnesota at Green Bay Week 16 Prediction ATS

Minnesota has its sights set on home-field advantage right through Super Bowl LII with the title game coming to town in early February. The Packers will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008 and even playing for pride will be hard to muster in this heated NFC North rivalry. Without Rodgers under center on Saturday night, things could get ugly fast in what should be a lopsided victory for the most complete team in this conference. Laying nine points on the road in a division game always comes with a higher level of risk, but I am still going with the Vikings both SU and ATS on Saturday night as my ‘best bet’ pick.
