Jacksonville at Tennessee Game Overview

Jacksonville ended its bid for a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs with last Sunday’s stunning 44-33 loss to San Francisco as a four-point road favorite, but it is still locked in as the No. 3 seed in the conference with a possible matchup against the Titans next week at home in the Wild Card Round if it loses to them this Sunday. The Jaguars fell to 9-6 against the spread with that Week 16 loss and the total has gone OVER in four of their last five games.

Behind Blake Bortles’ 382 passing yards and two scoring strikes against three interceptions, Jacksonville exceeded its season-scoring average of 27.1 points for the four-straight game against San Francisco after hanging 45 points on Houston the week before. This followed 30-point games in victories at home against Indianapolis and Seattle as part of this four-game span. The concern this week could be a Jaguars’ defense that was blasted for 131 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns in the loss to the 49ers.

Tennessee has blown multiple chances to lockup a playoff berth in the AFC with three SU losses in its last three games, including last Sunday 27-23 loss to the Los Angeles Rams as a 5.5-point home underdog. The Titans have still managed to cover in four of their last five games as part of an overall record of 7-7-1 ATS. The total has gone OVER in five of their last eight games. Tennessee is 4-2-1 ATS in seven previous home games this season.

The Titans come into their regular season finale ranked 22nd in the NFL in passing with Marcus Mariota under center. They have been somewhat better running the ball behind DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry with an average of 114.5 rushing yards a game. One of the big concerns on defense could be slowing Jacksonville down, especially through the air behind a defense that is 25th in the league against the pass. This unit gave up 37 points to Jacksonville in a Week 2 loss.

Jacksonville at Tennessee Free Game Prediction

The Jaguars are not playing for postseason position in this game, but they are playing to avoid a third meeting this season against a pesky division foe has played tough at home in the past. The fact that they are getting six points on the road only adds value to their chance to, at the very least, cover in this game. The Titans are not playing their best ball at the right time of the year in what would have to be considered an epic collapse to miss the postseason altogether.
