Point Spread: Broncos -3
Total: 40

Denver went to 2-0 with a 42-17 thumping of Dallas last week. Buffalo’s offense was nowhere to be found in a 9-3 loss to Carolina last Sunday.

The Broncos’ offense was firing on all cylinders against the Cowboys as QB Trevor Siemian threw 4 TD passes and RB C.J. Anderson ran for 118 yards and a score. Siemian may be under more duress last week as the o-line suffered 2 big injuries last week (G Ronald Leary and rookie LT Garrett Bolles). Bolles is out with a broken ankle and the pass protection may be somewhat compromised as a result. The Bills have 7 sacks on the year (6 last week) but they haven’t faced an offense with this many weapons. Siemian has a good rapport with WRs Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas and can get them the ball quickly to avoid taking too many hits in the pocket. Buffalo’s run defense has been stellar (115 yards, 2.7 ypc) but this is a major test for them. Denver has averaged 159 yards on the ground through the first 2 weeks and RB Jamaal Charles is a better-than-average backup and will get some carries as well. The Bills held down the Jets and Panthers but I think they’ll have some trouble this week.

As good as Buffalo’s defense was last week, their offense was at the opposite end of the spectrum. QB Tyrod Taylor threw for only 125 yards and now faces the top pass defense in the league. Taylor doesn’t have a lot of reliable targets at his disposal and rarely throws deep. The wideouts have had trouble getting separation and facing CBs Chris Harris and Aqib Talib won’t help. OLB Von Miller had 2 sacks against Dallas and expect to see him in the backfield causing chaos. RB LeSean McCoy gained a measly 9 yards on 12 carries against Carolina and look for the Broncos to be waiting for him. The Panthers employed 8 men in the box frequently last Sunday and I expect Denver to do the same. This passing offense just doesn’t scare anyone and McCoy could be in for another long day.

Public Money Consensus

In this week 3 NFL matchup between the Broncos and the Bills have the public leaning heavily to Denver to cover the spread of 3 points with almost 80% on board. The over/under bettors are banking on this game staying under the posted total line of 40 with 70%.

Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills Week 3 ATS Prediction

The Broncos are in a dogfight in their division with the Chiefs and Raiders also 2-0. They can’t afford a slip up and I don’t expect them to falter this Sunday. Buffalo’s offense is basically McCoy and everybody else and I expect Denver to neutralize him early and force Taylor into several unfavorable down and distance situations. Siemian has some o-line issues to deal with but he has several playmakers that he can get the ball to quickly and let them make plays. This game may be closer than people think but I think the Broncos will establish themselves early and move to 3-0 for the fourth time in the last 5 years.
