Chicago at Dallas Game Overview

<p>
Chicago has already dug itself into a 0-2 hole to start the new season with a 23-14 road loss to Houston as a 4.5-point underdog followed by this past Monday night’s 29-14 loss to Philadelphia as a three-point favorite at home. The total stayed UNDER 43 against the Texans and it ended as a PUSH in last week’s loss. Going back to last season the Bears are now just 1-6 both straight-up and against the spread in their last seven games.

<p>
Making matter worse is the throwing hand of quarterback Jay Cutler. He is listed as questionable for Sunday night and if he cannot go then look for Brian Hoyer to get the start. It probably does not matter which player is under center on an offense that is ranked 29th in the NFL in passing and 26th running the ball. The big concern could be on the other side of the ball with the loss of linebackers’ Danny Trevathan and Lamarr Houston with significant injures. The Bears have already allowed a total of 229 rushing yards in their first two games.
</p>
<p>
Dallas comes into Sunday night’s clash an even 1-1 following a 20-19 loss to the New York Giants in Week 1 as a one-point home underdog coupled with a 27-23 victory against Washington last week as a three-point underdog on the road. The total was also split; staying UNDER 48 against the Giants and going OVER 47.5 last week. The Cowboys will be looking to snap a SU five-game losing streak at home while going 0-3-2 ATS.
</p>
<p>
We do know that Dak Prescott will get the start at quarterback for Dallas. The rookie has thrown for 519 yards while completing 62.6 percent of his first 75 passing attempts. Rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott has added another 134 yards and two scores on the ground to help pace the Cowboy’s new-look offense. Cole Beasley has been the team’s leading receiver so far with 13 catches for 140 yards.

Chicago at Dallas Prediction

Chicago appears to be a team that is in serious trouble, while the Cowboys are playing with a new-found air of confidence despite the fact that Tony Romo remains out of the lineup. I am just not sure that the actual gap between the two teams justifies BetOnline’s seven-point spread.

Desperation can sometimes lead to inspired play and the Bears might actually be better off if Hoyer gets the start. Look for the Cowboys to get the SU win in Big D, but I am taking the Bears to cover with the points.
