Texas Longhorns at Kansas State Wildcats Overview

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns come in as one of the biggest movers in the Top 25 as the Hook Ems debuted as the number 18 team in the land in the latest installment of polls. This coming in after Bevo went to work on the Frogs of War when they defeated cross-state rival TCU last Saturday in Austin by a score of 31-16. The stock on this team is searing. The Longhorns blew out USC in Austin to precede their epic win over a then-ranked 17, Texas Christian.

Kansas State Wildcats

The Wildcats come in off a 35-6 beat-down at the hands of the number 12-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown, last Saturday. As a whole, the Wildcats have already gone up against two top-15 ranked opponents and have been manhandled accordingly. K-State’s two wins this year were earned a scare against FCS South Dakota which required overtime and a 41-17 thumping of cupcake Texas-San Antonio.

Reasons To Avoid Texas

We have already stressed the importance of home field in this series, fortunately for K-State, they get this one in Manhattan. The Horns had home cooking behind them when they took it to the likes of USC and TCU. Now, Texas will be going into the most hostile environment they have faced this season. When you combine this with the let-down potential after such an emotional win against TCU when they ended the Frogs' win streak against them, that propensity is greater as Kansas State may seem like a step back in comparison to what they have faced in the last two weeks.

Reasons To Back Kansas State

Coach Bill Snyder has a tendency to scare up teams when his Wildcats are off the radar. In fact, Texas had undergone such wrath in Manhattan only two years ago when Charlie Strong skippered the Burnt Orange. And that's how K-State comes into this contest. They have been smoked by ranked opponents all year so one would suspect that the point spread should be a bit higher here. However, it isn't for a reason, and chances are we are setting up on the right side against an overreaction.

Texas at Kansas State Prediction 09/29/2018

An upset is not out of the realm of possibility here but to play this one conservative, we suggest taking the points. Look for a fired-up Wildcats team to feed off an energetic crowd to render this affair into a physical one settled by once again, just a sole possession.
