The Buckeyes, meanwhile, opened their 2021 campaign with a 45-31 win at Minnesota last Thursday night. Ohio State scored the first 10 points of the game but trailed 14-10 at the half. The Buckeyes still trailed 21-17 midway through the third quarter but scored twice over a three-minute span to take the lead for good. Near the end, Ohio State tacked on an insurance touchdown to push the spread as a 14-point favorite. Also, that game played over a total of 61. The Buckeyes, with a bunch of big plays on offense, posted 495 total yards, including 201 on the ground. But OSU also gave up 408 yards of Gophers offense, 203 on the ground. Ohio State returned 11 starters this season, six on offense and five on defense, from a team that played 7-1 last year, won the Big Ten again, and beat Clemson in a College Football Playoff semifinal, before getting blown out by Alabama in the national championship game.
