Oregon Ducks at California Golden Bears Overview

Oregon Ducks

The Ducks come in off a heartbreaking defeat in Eugene last weekend when they hosted #8 Stanford and blew a 17-point lead. Oregon seemed well on the way to the win when referees injected themselves into the game and called by what should have been a touchdown to put away the Cardinal. Instead, Stanford would create a turnover and run it back for a scoop and score spawning a rally that forced the game into extra time where the Ducks would fall short.

California Golden Bears

The Bears come into this contest undefeated with wins over Idaho State, BYU, and North Carolina. The Bears own one of the strongest defenses in America, surrendering a 16th ranked 302.3 yards per game while allowing just 19.3 points per game. Coupling this with some explosive playmakers in running back Patrick Laird and wide receiver Justin Duncan, the Bears, can potentially be one of the most balanced ensembles in the Pac-12.

Reasons To Back California

The Golden Bears come into this contest ranked in some polls, and that in itself is bound to place some electricity into this football team and fan base. The Bears are also known for being quite unwelcoming to visitors that descend into Strawberry Canyon. This is the same team that pounded an undefeated Washington State and nearly pulled an upset of defending Pac-12 Champion USC here last year. We have to like them here with points.

Reasons To Avoid Oregon

The Ducks come into a spot that can be quite perilous for any bettors to place a wager. The emotional toll of Oregon’s bitter loss in overtime has yet to be assessed. In many instances, teams that offer suffer a defeat in the manner in which Oregon did are prone to come in flat. When you couple this with an animated crowd providing an edge at home for the host, Oregon is not a team to get on board with.

Oregon at California Prediction 09/29/2018

We liked California as a dark horse to potentially vie for the Pac-12 Conference crown in 2018, and this venue will provide insight into why there was such optimism. California continues to improve on both sides of the football under Head Coach Justin Wilcox, and he will empower this bunch to take a step forward with a win against a traditional heavyweight. Bears outright get the call.
