Oklahoma Sooners at Houston Cougars Game Overview

<p>
Oklahoma comes in as a heavy favorite to win the Big 12, as they required juice as a conference outright in futures markets. The Sooners were priced at -130, while the second favorite TCU was offered at +500. However, Oklahoma’s conclusion to their 2015 efforts were abysmal. As a #4 seed in the College Football Playoff, the Sooners entered as a favorite against the #1 seed Clemson who had failed to lose a game all season long. The results for the Sooners were appalling, as they were routed 37-17 at the hands of Clemson quarterback, Heisman contender Dashaun Watson.

Houston comes in on a very high note, the Cougars reached unprecedented levels when they won 13 games in 2015 under the stewardship of coach Tom Herman. The Cougars produced numbers you would see in a video game with a truly gifted talent in quarterback Greg Ward, Jr. In fact, Ward has done what only Watson could do in 2015. Ward threw for 2,000 yards through the air while running for 1,000 on the ground. This feat was also complemented by Ward scoring 38 teams while also sustaining an injury late in the season which kept him sidelined for a couple of games. Houston slammed Florida State 38-24 in the Peach Bowl to encapsulate their stellar 2015 campaign.

Oklahoma Sooners at Houston Cougars Free Pick

If Oklahoma’s most recent performance against Clemson is any barometer of how the Sooners will fare against offenses of Houston’s caliber, this may in fact be a long day at the offense for OU. Greg Ward, Jr is as every bit as lethal as Dashaun Watson. Watson absolutely chewed up the Oklahoma defense and if this game were to evolve to a shootout, the edge lies with Houston.

The academic move in any shootout is to take a team taking back more than a touchdown. Houston is being given more than a touchdown and a field goal and yet the audience will simply down that glass of juice like it’s a tasty beverage. Bottom line, Houston has the playmaker and Oklahoma has the hype, setting up a perfect value play to buy a thirteen-game winner with a friendly amount of points. Oklahoma may actually lose this game outright, they don’t utilize their rushers in the right way and they have struggled mightily against any form of potent offense in 2015, even if they came out with the W at the end.
