Georgia Bulldogs (4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS) vs. Tennessee Volunteers (1-3, 1-3)

Georgia owns the upper hand in the recent rivalry with Tennessee, winning seven of the last nine meetings outright, including the previous two in convincing fashion. But the Volunteers are 5-2 against the spread over the last seven meetings, with a couple of straight-up victories, keeping several other games close as underdogs. Who do we like for our free college football pick on Saturday night's clash in Knoxville?

'Dawgs vs. Vols Set-Up

Georgia is off to a 4-0 start to this season, ranked No. 3 in this week's AP poll, after holding off Notre Dame two weeks ago 23-17. The Bulldogs then enjoyed last week off.

UGA spotted the Fighting Irish an early 7-0 lead and trailed 10-7 at the half. But the Bulldogs used a 16-0 run out of the locker room to go up 23-10 and hung on from there.

However, Georgia came up short ATS as a 16-point favorite.

On the night the Bulldogs outgained Notre Dame 341-321, outrushed the Irish 154-46, held a 35-25 advantage in time of possession and won the turnover battle 2-1.

Georgia opened this season with a 30-6 win at Vanderbilt, covering at -22, then blew out Murray State and Arkansas State by a combined score of 118-17. So the Bulldogs are 2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS against Power 5 opponents this season.

Tennessee, meanwhile, is just 1-3 on the season, after falling at Florida two weeks ago 34-3. The Volunteers then also had last week off.

UT fell to the Gators 7-0 two minutes into the game, hung tough for a while but gave up a short touchdown on the final play of the second quarter to trail 17-0 into the locker room. The Vols then got within 17-3 early in the third but faded from there and whiffed ATS as 12-point dogs.

On the day Tennessee got outgained by Florida 441-239, and turned the ball over four times and lost time of possession by a 34-26 split. The Vols also had to make a change at quarterback, following some poor play from starter Jarrett Guarantano. Then again, he wasn't getting much help.

As of this writing, the Tennessee quarterback situation is a bit uncertain.

The Vols opened this season with a 38-30 upset loss at home to a Georgia State team that's lost its last two games, to Western Michigan and Texas State. Tennessee then fell at home in overtime to BYU, before beating FCS Chattanooga. So UT is 0-2 both SU and ATS this season against Power 5 foes.

'Dawgs-Vols Recent History
Georgia dominated the Vols last season, winning total yardage 441-209 and time of possession 37-23, but couldn't quite cover as a 30-point favorite.

Georgia at Tennessee Prediction 10/5/19

Barring a minor miracle Georgia is going to win this game, and playing on the road means the spread is a few points friendlier. In fact, if the Bulldogs just win this one by last season's score, they'll cover. We're giving the points with UGA for our free college football pick.
