Two-time defending national champion Georgia looks to remain atop the College Football Playoff rankings when it tangles with Tennessee Saturday night in Knoxville.

The Bulldogs already own an invitation to the upcoming SEC championship game, a 27-game winning streak overall and a six-game winning streak against the Volunteers. And they’re favored by double-digits to extend those runs Saturday.

NCAAF Betting Odds

The Week 12 college football betting market opened Georgia as a 10-point road favorite over Tennessee, with an over/under of right around 59. Early betting action then edged that spread up to 10.5.

According to Sagarin’s ratings at Sagarin.com, the line on this game should only be six points.

Georgia-Tennessee Betting Preview

The Bulldogs remained undefeated on the season by drubbing Ole Miss last Saturday 52-17. Georgia favored at -11, spotted the Rebels the first seven points of the game but led 28-14 at the half. UGA then pulled away in the second half for the W and the money.

Georgia out-gained Ole Miss 611-352 and ran the ball for 300 yards.

The Bulldogs were not exactly blowing opponents out over recent weeks and they only played 2-5 ATS over their previous seven games. But they certainly put on a complete performance against the No. 10 Rebs last week.

At 10-0 overall, the SEC East champs now sit at No. 1 in the latest CFP rankings.

Meanwhile, the Volunteers are trying to bounce back this week after getting punked at Missouri last Saturday 36-7. Tennessee, favored by a field goal, led 7-3 early, then came up totally empty from there. The Vols trailed 13-7 at the half and mustered no challenge from there, in a thoroughly disappointing performance.

Tennessee got out-gained by the Tigers 530-350, out-rushed 255-83, lost time of possession by a 40:20 split and turned the ball over three times. And that’s how you lose by four touchdowns.

Two weeks ago the Volunteers beat a bad UConn team 59-3. Three weeks ago they won at Kentucky 33-27.

But at 7-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play Tennessee is playing for pride from here on out.

Common Opponents

These two teams have played four common opponents so far this season; Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, and South Carolina. The Bulldogs played those foes to 4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS and +186 yards per game, the Vols to 2-2 both SU and ATS and +10 YPG.

Georgia-Tennessee Recent History

The Bulldogs own a six-game winning streak against the Volunteers, going 5-1 ATS. Last year in Athens, Georgia led 24-6 at the half, won 27-13, and covered at -9.5.

Totals Report

  • The Overs are 6-4 in Bulldogs games this season, which are averaging 56 total points.
  • The Overs are 5-4-1 in Vols games, which are averaging 52 points.
  • The Overs are 3-1 over the last three meetings between these teams.

Georgia at Tennessee NCAAF Betting Pick

Georgia is coming off perhaps its best performance of this season, Tennessee its worst. Also, the Bulldogs own a much better performance against common opponents. Also, Georgia won this match-up last season by two touchdowns, and while it might not seem like it they might be better right now than they were that day. Meanwhile, the Vols are not as good right now as they were last season. Finally, playing on the road keeps the spread just a little friendlier. We’re betting on the Bulldogs on Saturday, minus the points.
