Point Spread: Alabama -27

<p>
Alabama is always a big favorite in Tuscaloosa and faces another significant number for Saturday's SEC West battle with Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Can the Tide continue with their recent roll and cash in? Or can the Aggies keep this one close, or even possibly pull a repeat of that upsetting performance from six seasons ago?

The week 4 college football betting market opened Alabama at -25, with an over/under of 60.5. The early betting action then bumped that spread to -27.

<h2>
Aggies-Tide: Match-Up<br />
</h2>
<p>
Texas A&M opened this season with a 59-7 scrimmage against Northwestern State, then lost that exciting game at home to Clemson 28-26, then last week took care of UL-Monroe 48-10. The Aggies led the Warhawks last week 24-10 at the half, then won the second half 24-0 and covered as 28-point favorites.
</p>
<p>
The more interesting game for our purposes here is that loss two weeks ago to the national championship-contending Tigers. A&M trailed that night 14-3 at the half and 28-13 into the fourth quarter, pulled to within a two-point conversion with just under a minute to go, failed and lost but garnered the back-door cover as 12-point home dogs.
</p>
<p>
Alabama, meanwhile, is rolling in cash this season. The Tide opened with a 51-14 rout of Louisville, then romped over Arkansas State 57-7, then last week opened SEC play with a 62-7 mugging of Ole Miss in Oxford. Alabama covered at -23 over the Cardinals, at -37 over the Red Wolves and at -22 against the Rebs.
</p>
<p>
Alabama gave up a 75-yard touchdown to Ole Miss on the first play of the game, but then scored the final 62 points for its second straight terrible blowout of the Rebs. Last year the Tide beat Ole Miss 66-3.
</p>
<p>
On the night Alabama outgained the Rebs 516-248. Also, the Tide scored on a third-quarter pick-six, already their fourth special teams/defensive TD this season.

<h2>
The Rivalry/Recent History<br />
</h2>
<p>
This rivalry featured one of the great games in recent college football memory that 29-24 A&M upset in Tuscaloosa already six years ago. But since that game, Alabama is 5-0 SU, 3-2 ATS against the Aggies, including a 27-19 victory last year at College Station. However, A&M covered easily that day as a 25-point home dog.
</p>
<p>
Alabama's biggest lead that day was 24-3 in the third quarter, but they allowed the Aggies to hang around for the money.
</p>
<h2>
Totals Report<br />
</h2>
<p>
Texas A&M's game against Clemson played over a total of 50, but it needed a touchdown with 46 seconds to go to do it.
</p>
<p>
Alabama's game against Louisville played over a total of 60, but it needed two Tide defensive/specials teams TDs and a meaningless Cardinals touchdown with just under two minutes to go to do it. 'Bama's game against Ole Miss then played under a ridiculous total of 71 because the Tide defense stuffed that Rebs offense.

Alabama at Texas Prediction 09/22/2018

Over recent seasons Alabama has shown a tendency, on occasion, to ease up once games were in hand, and come up short against large spreads. However, that has not been the case this season. The Tide are just stomping people and covering big numbers. Meanwhile, Texas A&M rallied for the money against Clemson, but they got outplayed for much of that game. If Alabama gets the Aggies down here, there will be no comeback. We don't usually like going with the betting flow, and we've often taken the points on underdogs in Tide home games, but we're giving the points here with 'Bama.
