Toronto at Cleveland Game Overview

The Raptors’ three-game winning streak both straight-up and against the spread to close out their opening round series against Milwaukee in six games came to an end on Monday night in a 116-105 loss to Cleveland as seven-point road underdogs. The total went OVER the closing 211-point line after staying UNDER in four of the six games against the Bucks. They are now 4-2-1 ATS in their last seven road games.

Toronto was in trouble from the start in Game 1 after falling behind by 12 points after the first quarter. It tried to rally in the fourth with 31 points, but the gap was just too wide to close. DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry combined for 39 points and Serge Ibaka added 15 points while hitting all three of his shots from three-point range, but it still was not enough to keep the Raptors from going down early in this best-of-seven clash.

Cleveland remains perfect in the playoffs at 5-0 SU and with Monday night’s cover it is 2-2-1 ATS. The total has gone OVER in 10 of its last 13 games going all the way back to a 122-105 win against Philadelphia on the last day of March. The Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS going back over their last seven home games and overall this season at Quicken Loans Arena they are 20-22-2 ATS as compared to a SU record of 34-10.

The star power of Cleveland shined in Game 1 with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love putting on quite a show for the home town crowd. James led the way with a game-high 35 points while adding 10 rebounds and Irving was second in scoring on the team with 24 points while going 7-for-16 from the field. Love rounded out the trio with 18 points, nine rebounds and nine assists to help seal the win. If these three continue to play at this high of a level, it would be hard to see Toronto coming away with even one win in this series.

Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction

Toronto did not play all that bad in Game 1. The 11-point loss was more a product of just how well Cleveland played. There were no signs of rust from an extended layoff after the opening round sweep of Indiana and all three of the Cavaliers’ top playmakers came to play.

The Raptors are probably going down 2-0 in this series, but I am going to continue to ride the OVER on the 214-point total line as my “best bet” pick after cashing in on this play in Game 1.
