The backend of ESPN’s Wednesday night NBA double header should be a good one with the Oklahoma City Thunder staying on the West Coast to face the Golden State Warriors. Game time from Oracle Arena in Oakland is set for 10:30 p.m. (ET).

Oklahoma City at Golden State Game Overview

The Thunder continue their current six-game road trip with a 1-2 mark both straight-up and against the spread in the first three games. Monday night’s 120-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers as eight-point road underdogs followed a 122-118 win against Sacramento the night before as slight 1.5-point favorites. Oklahoma City is now 10-12 on the road this season both SU and ATS. The total has gone OVER in five of its last eight games overall.

Oklahoma City continues to live and die with the play of Russell Westbrook. He leads the league in scoring with 30.7 points per game and he is second on the list in assists (10.3). In Monday night’s loss to the Clippers, he led all scorers with 24 points while shooting 7-for-19 from the field. Against the Kings on Sunday night, he went off for 36 points while hitting four of his five shots from three-point range. Earlier this season in a 26-point road loss to Golden State on Nov. 3, Westbrook was held to 20 points while dishing out 10 assists.

Golden State snapped a four-game losing streak to Cleveland that dates back to last season’s NBA Finals on Monday night in a convincing 126-91 victory as a nine-point home favorite. The total stayed UNDER the closing 227.5-point line. This extended the Warriors’ current SU winning streak to four games and it was their eighth SU win in their last nine games. While they covered with ease against their bitter Eastern Conference rivals, their record ATS over these past nine games is just 3-6.

Stephon Curry and Kevin Durant remain the marquee headliners for a Golden State team that has the best SU record in the NBA at 35-6; however it was players such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston off the bench that helped pace Monday’s big win with a combined 27 points. The Warriors are also at the top of the league in scoring with 117.7 PPG, but they fall to 18th in the NBA in points allowed (105.1).

Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors Prediction

The Thunder find themselves in pretty good position to pull off a SU upset on Wednesday night if they can catch Golden State still basking in Monday night’s much needed victory against its nemesis. At the very least, Oklahoma City should be able to make a game of it behind a highly motivated Westbrook going up against his former teammate Durant for the second time this season.

I am always leery of betting on the Warriors in light of their costly 18-22-1 record ATS overall and while I do not see them losing this game SU, I do see Oklahoma State covering the current 12.5-point spread.
