Memphis grabbed a 3-2 series lead with a 111-109 Game 5 victory at home Tuesday night. The Grizzlies, favored by 6.5 points, led 13-2 out of the gate but from there trailed most of the game, including by 13 with seven minutes left and by two with a minute to go. But a Ja Morant 3-pointer gave Memphis the lead, and shortly thereafter, they won it on a Morant drive-and-scoop basket with one second left. However, the Grizz came up short against that spread. Memphis only shot 42 percent from the field Tuesday while allowing Minnesota to shoot 45 percent. But the Grizzlies out-rebounded the Timberwolves 53-42 and won the turnover battle 23-16. So Memphis has now out-rebounded Minnesota in three of the five games in this series. The Timberwolves took the opener of this series in Memphis two weeks ago 130-117, while the Grizzlies took Game 2 by a 124-96 score, covering at -7. Memphis then trailed Game 3 by 26 points in the third quarter before storming back to win 104-95. But Minnesota then showed great character by winning Game 4 last Saturday 119-118.
