Boston at Golden State Game Overview

Boston (40-24) is currently three games in back of Cleveland for the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings, but it has not done itself any favors in this race with back-to-back road losses to Phoenix and the Los Angeles Clippers in its last two outings both straight-up and against the spread. It is now 2-4 (SU and ATS) in its last six games on the road with the total staying UNDER or ending as a PUSH in all six of these contests.

In Monday night’s 116-102 loss to the Clippers as a seven-point underdog, Boston got another strong performance from Isiah Thomas with a game-high 32 points, but as a team it shot 41 percent from the field while hitting just 10 of its 35 shots from three-point range. The Celtics are averaging 107.9 points per game on the year, but they have failed to reach that average in seven of their last eight games. Defense is also a concern after Boston blew another double-digit lead on Monday night.

The Warriors are still 2.5 games up on San Antonio in the Western Conference standings following Monday’s 119-111 road victory against Atlanta as six-point favorites. This was the first time that Golden State covered ATS in its last seven games and the total went OVER 216.5 points after staying UNDER in its previous five games. The Warriors return to the West Coast following a five-game road trip against the East with a SU record of 26-3 at home while going 15-13-1 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in three of their last four home games.

Life without Kevin Durant has made things a bit unpredictable for Golden State, but Stephen Curry did step up his game on Monday against the Hawks with 24 points and nine assists. Andre Iguodala added 24 points off the bench while going 4-for-6 from three-point range. In Sunday’s seven-point road win against New York as 10.5-point favorites, the Warriors got a combined 60 points from Curry and Klay Thompson to help pace the win.

Boston Celtics at Golden State Warriors Prediction

Both of these teams need a win on Wednesday night given the tight race in both conferences, but it is hard to see Boston turning things around after blowing big leads in its last two losses. Golden State gets to enjoy just one night at home before heading back out on the road for its next two games and I like its chances to make the most of the opportunity.

What I am really counting on in this matchup is that road fatigue and frustration continue to build for the Celtics as they fall to Golden State both SU and ATS this Wednesday night.
