Texas: Colby Lewis (6-1, 3.21 ERA)

Los Angeles: Jared Weaver (10-11, 5.37 ERA)

Colby Lewis goes for the Rangers today and he will be making his first start since June 21st, as he is just off the DL. He was injured in his last start when he gave up six earned runs in only five innings of work in an 8-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The Rangers are 3-8 in Lewis' last 11 starts against the Angels and they have lost four of their last five games facing them with him on the hill in L.A.

Jared Weaver gets the call for the Angels and in his last outing he was tagged for five runs in only four innings and he was pulled after getting hit by a line drive. He was not very sharp, but the offense bailed him out in a 10-7 win over the Oakland A’s. L.A. has won his last three starts. Before his last start Weaver had only given up a combined three earned runs in his previous two starts. The Angels are 15-2 in Weavers last 17 home starts against the Rangers and they have won five of their last six games overall facing them with him getting the start. The Angels are 2-5 in Weavers last seven starts facing a team with a winning record.

Texas Rangers at L.A. Angels Free Pick

The Rangers have the best record in the AL, but they are only 8-7 facing the Angels this season. Weaver has not had the best season and he did not have a great last start, but he has had success against Texas in his career going 16-8 with an ERA of 3.40 in 38 starts against them. The Angels’ lineup showed some life even in the loss yesterday scoring five runs after totaling only four in their previous three games. Lewis was leading the AL in 12 quality starts and had held opponents to a .222 average before going on the DL. The Texas offense has not been lighting it up as of late but that will change today getting to Weaver early and they will get the win and complete the series sweep.
