Pitching Match Up<br />
</h2>
<p>
Tampa Bay: Jake Odorizzi (3-2, 3.14 ERA)<br />
Seattle: Christian Bergman (2-2, 4.67 ERA)
</p>
<p>
Jake Odorizzi gets the call in the first game of this AL series and he gave up two earned runs in five innings in his last start, which was a 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The Rays have lost his last two starts and three of his last four. The only win in that span was Odorizzi worst of the four and in the three losses he gave up five earned runs in 17 innings and only got five runs of support. In four career starts against the Mariners he is 1-1with a pretty solid ERA of 2.35. While the Rays are 6-1 in Odorizzi’s last 7 road starts facing a team with a losing record they have lost three of his last 15 starts in Game 1 of a series.
</p>
<p>
Christian Bergman is coming off a great start where he did not give up any earned runs in seven innings in a 5-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. The Mariners have won two of his last three starts and in both he went seven innings and did not give up any earned runs. However, the one loss in that span, which was on the road, he was absolutely shelled giving up 10 runs on 14 hits going only four innings in a 10-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. Bergman has pitched lefties well this season holding them to a .162 average. He was 5-0 in AAA before getting called up to the big club and he has been solid for a Seattle starting staff that has been hit hard by injuries.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction

The Rays have won three of their last four games and they sit in 4th place in the AL East 4.5 games back of the New York Yankees. Their lineup has been getting it done at the dish lately totaling 30 runs in their last four games. Tampa Bay’s Logan Morrison had 10 HR in the month of May and Corey Dickerson is riding a seven-game hitting streak where he is 13 for 36 and has five doubles. The Mariners had won four in a row before their loss in their last game. Nelson Cruz leads Seattle in both HR and RBI and he left the last game with a hand injury and is a question mark for this one. Odorizzi has been pretty decent lately, but he has not gotten much run support. The big question is which Bergman will show up? The one who has been great in two of his last three starts or the one who was lit up in the start previous to his last one? I think he will have a good outing and the Mariners will win this home game.
