Rays-White Sox MLB Betting Preview

To begin this week, Tampa Bay just dropped three of four games at home to Oakland, losing Thursday's series finale 6-3. The Rays fell behind 8-0 to the A's in Monday's series opener, on their way toward a loss; won Tuesday with two runs in the bottom of the tenth inning; fell down 3-0 early Wednesday and lost; then fell behind 3-0 again Thursday, on their way toward another defeat.

Tampa opened this season by sweeping three games from Baltimore.
The Rays, champions of the AL East last season, are playing against a "season wins" over/under this season of 89.5.
Chicago, meanwhile, just took two of three games at home from Seattle, missing out on the sweep by losing Thursday's series finale 5-1. The White Sox opened this season by taking two of three games from the Tigers in Detroit.
The ChiSox, champions of the AL Central last season, are playing against a wins O/U this season of 91.5.
These two teams split six meetings last season, each team winning a series at home.

Friday's Pitching Match-Up

Cease is making his second start of this season Friday night. Last Saturday, he held Detroit to one
run and two hits through five innings, with three walks and eight strikeouts, in a 5-2 Chicago victory. Last year Cease hit 9/32 on quality starts, and the White Sox played 18-14 with him.
In his only career start against Tampa Bay, back in 2019, Cease gave up four runs - all on one
swing of the bat - on three hits and four walks through five frames of a 4-2 White Sox loss.
Rasmussen is also making his second start of this season Friday night. Last Saturday, he gave up two runs and three hits through four innings of a 5-3 Rays win over Baltimore.
Last year Rasmussen "hit" 0/10 on quality starts pitching for Milwaukee and Tampa, to go along
with 25 appearances in relief. But he was actually very good for the Rays after coming over from
the Brewers, posting a 2.44 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP through 59 innings with Tampa.
The Rays played 7-3 when Rasmussen started last season.

This will be Rasmussen's first-ever start against the White Sox.

Rays at White Sox Prediction 4/15/22

We give Rasmussen and the Tampa bullpen the edge in the pitching match-up here, and the Rays own an edge in the splits with the sticks. Also, after dropping a series at home to a team they

should have beat, we expect a bounce-back series from Tampa Bay this weekend. So we're betting the Rays at the underdog price Friday night.
