Two of the best teams in Baseball so far this season hook up for a doubleheader Tuesday as the
Mets and Giants get it on in Queens. Newcomer Max Scherzer hits the hill for New York in the
nightcap against Logan Webb for San Francisco.
Here's how we homeworked the second game of this twin-bill, with our free baseball betting
pick for Tuesday.

MLB Betting Odds

Tuesday's baseball betting lines opened New York and Scherzer at around -130 over San
Francisco and Webb, with an over/under of seven runs. Early betting action then dipped the Mets
a nickel to -125.

Giants-Mets MLB Betting Preview

This series was supposed to start Monday night but rain created a doubleheader for Tuesday.
San Francisco just swept three games at Cleveland over the weekend by scores of 4-1, 4-2 and
Sunday 8-1. Just before that the Giants took two of three at home from San Diego and just before
that they took two of three at home from Miami. So San Francisco is 3-0 on series this season.
New York meanwhile, just took two of three games at home from Arizona, winning Sunday's
series rubber match 5-0. Just before that the Mets took two of three at Philadelphia, and just
before that they took three of four at Washington. So New York is also 3-0 on series this season.
Last year the Giants took the season series from the Mets five games to one.

Pitching Match-Up

Scherzer is making his third start of this season for his new team. Last Wednesday he held
Philadelphia to one run and five hits through five innings of a 9-6 New York victory. And five
days before that he gave up three runs through six frames of a 7-3 Mets win. So on the whole
he's allowed four runs on eight hits and four walks through 11 innings, with 13 strikeouts.
Last year, pitching for the Nationals and Dodgers, Scherzer hit 18/30 on quality starts;
Washington played 11-8 with Scherzer while Los Angeles played 11-0!.
In two starts against the Giants last season, one shortened by injury, one in the playoffs, Scherzer
allowed just one run and three hits through seven innings, with one walk and 10 whiffs. Los
Angeles managed to lose that playoff game 1-0.
Webb is a solid 2/2 on quality starts this year. First, he held Miami to one run through six innings
of a 6-5 San Francisco win. Then last Wednesday he held San Diego to one run and four hits
through eight innings, with zero walks and seven K's, in a 2-1 Giants victory. So on the whole
he's allowed two runs and nine hits through 14 innings.
Last year Webb hit 13/26 on quality starts as San Francisco played a sparkling 21-5 with him.
In his only career start against the Mets, last August, Webb allowed two runs and seven hits
through 7 1/3 innings of a 3-2 Giants win.
Giants at Mets Prediction 4/19/22

Scherzer's got the big name but Webb's been great over the last season-plus. So we consider this

pitching match-up very even. From there we call the sticks about a wash, too, but we give San

Francisco the check-mark in the bullpen comparison. Plus, the Giants are catching an underdog

price. We like the baseball betting value with San Francisco here.
