National League division leaders clash when the Giants and Brewers open a three-game series in Beer City Friday night. San Francisco still owns the best record in Baseball as they close in on their first playoff appearance in five seasons. Milwaukee, meanwhile, seeks to hang on for what would be its fourth straight playoff appearance. Corbin Burnes and his 0.97 WHIP get the call for the home team here against Logan Webb for the visitors.
MLB Betting Odds

<a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/odds" title="MLB Odds Board Comparison">Friday's MLB oddsboard opened Milwaukee at around -165 over San Francisco, with an over/under of eight runs. Early betting action then dipped the Brewers about 15 cents, to -150.

Giants-Brewers MLB Betting Preview

San Francisco just took three of four games at Arizona, rallying from a 4-0 ninth-inning deficit to win Thursday's series finale 5-4 in extras. Just before that, the Giants took two of three from AL West-leading Houston, and just before that, they took two of three from the Dodgers. So San Francisco is 3-0 over its last three series and 8-3 over its previous 11 games.

At 69-40 overall, the best record in baseball, the Giants lead the Dodgers by four games in the NL West, and they're four games up on LA and Milwaukee in the battle for the best record in the National League.

The Brewers, meanwhile, just took two of three games at home from Pittsburgh, winning Wednesday's series rubber match 4-2. The Brew Crew then enjoyed Thursday off.

Just before that, Milwaukee took two of three games from Atlanta, and just before that, they swept three from the Pirates. Going back a bit further, the Brewers are 4-0 over their last four series and 9-3 over their last 12 games.

At 65-44 overall, Milwaukee leads the NL Central by seven games over second-place Cincinnati.

These two teams last met in 2019, when they split six games. Not one of the pitchers who started any of those games is still with either of these teams.

Friday's Pitching Match-Up

<a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/213463" title="Corbin Burnes Pitching Stats">Burnes is 11/18 on quality starts this season, 2/3 since the All-Star break. Last Friday, he got touched for five runs and nine hits through just four innings against Atlanta, although Milwaukee came from behind to win that one 9-5. But over his two starts before that, he allowed just one run and nine hits through 14 1/3 innings, with three walks against 18 strikeouts.

The Brewers are 10-8 with Burnes this season, but that mark is at least three games worse than it should be.

This will be Burnes' first action against the Giants since 2019, and that's kind of already a long time ago.

<a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/256128" title="Logan Webb Pitching Logs">Webb, by our strict standards, is 5/14 on quality starts this season but two for his last two. Last Sunday, he held Houston to two runs and seven hits through six innings of a 5-3 San Francisco victory. And just before that, he had the Dodgers to one run and three hits through six frames of a 2-1 Giants win.

San Francisco is 11-3 with Webb this year, 5-0 over his last five outings.

This will be Webb's first career action against Milwaukee.

Splits With the Sticks

San Francisco is batting .245 against right-handed pitching this season, with a .326 team OBP and a .447 team slugging percentage.

Milwaukee is slashing .225/.313/.384 against right-handed pitching. This lineup is operating without left-handed stick Christian Yelich, but he wasn't doing much anyway.

The Bullpens

The Giants bullpen owns a 3.28 ERA this season, along with a 1.10 WHIP and a 3.03 K/BB ratio. Numbers like those lead us to rank this unit among the top two bullpens (along with Tampa Bay) in Baseball right now.

The Brewers pen owns a 3.69 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and a 2.57 K/BB ratio. This unit is operating without closer Josh Hader and added a couple of guys at the trade deadline.

MLB Betting Trends

The Giants are 34-23 on the road this season.

The Brewers are 31-25 at home.

The Giants are an ML-best 50-25 against right-handed starters this season.

The Brewers are 53-33 against right-handed starters.

The Giants are 24-14 as underdogs this season.

Totals Report

Unders are 51-49 in Brewers games.

Unders are 26-25 in games played at American Family Field this season.
