New York: CC Sabathia (14-5 3.69 ERA)
Houston: Charlie Morton (14-7, 3.62 ERA)

CC Sabathia goes in Game 7 tonight and he started Game 3 of this series in his last outing not giving up any runs and only allowing three hits in six innings in an 8-1 win. After the Yankees lost his first post-season start where he gave up two earned runs in five innings they have won his last two where he has totaled 10 innings and given up two earned runs. In Sabathia’s last 13 starts after a New York loss in the previous game he is 10-0 with an ERA of only 1.69. His Game 3 start in this series was his first start against the Astros this season. Overall, the Yankees are 6-1 in Sabathia’s last seven starts and they are 13-4 in hislast 17 starts against a team with a winning record.

Charlie Morton gets the nod for the Astros and he opposed Sabathia in Game 3 in New York where he was lit up for seven earned runs in only three innings in the 8-1 loss. The Astros had won his previous post-season start where he gave up two earned runs in four innings giving up seven hits in a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox. This is Morton’s 4th career post-season start and this season in 16 home starts he went 10-3 with an ERA of 3.34 and held opponents to a .217 batting average. Overall, the Astros are 4-1 in Morton’s last five starts and they have also won four of his last five home starts.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Prediction

If the Yankees win tonight, they will become only the 14th team in playoff history to come back from an 0-2 deficit. They had won the previous three games of this series all at home, where they totaled 19 runs. The Astros avoided elimination with their Game 6 win with the offensive outburst after scoring a combined five runs in the three straight losses in New York. Sabathia was lights out in his last outing while Morton was not getting lit up. I expect Morton to rebound off his poor road outing based on his home record this season of 10-3 W/L, 3.34 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. However, I am also confident that Sabathia will have another strong outing. While the Astros are 5-0 at home in the playoffs this season and the Yankees are 0-7 in their last ALCS road games I believe those trends will end tonight. New York’s only road win in this year’s post season was in the deciding Game 5 of the ALDS in Cleveland and Sabathia and the bullpen will lead them to the promised land at plus money. It will be the Yankees and the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series.
