</h2>
<p>
New York: Jordan Montgomery (6-4, 3.53 ERA)<br />
Houston: Francis Martes (2-0, 5.51 ERA)
</p>
<p>
Jordan Montgomery goes for the Yankees in this AL match up and in his last start he had a good one only allowing one earned run on five hits in seven innings in a 6-5 win over the Chicago White Sox. The Yankees have won four of his last five starts, including his last two, and in that span he has gone 30 innings and given up nine earned runs with four of them coming in the lone loss. Montgomery is having a solid rookie campaign and after losing four straight games with him on the hill he has picked up four wins in his last five starts. He was not sharp in his lone start facing the Astros this season in New York on May 12th giving up four earned runs on eight hits in six innings in a 5-1 Yankees loss.
</p>
<p>
Francis Martes gets the nod tonight for the Astros and took a no decision in his last start where he only went two innings and gave up two earned runs in an 8-2 Houston win. This is only his 4th Major League start and the Astros have won his first three where he has gone 12 innings and given up six earned runs. Martes only start at home was his MLB debut where he went five innings and only gave up one run on three hits in a 13-2 win over the Texas Rangers.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Prediction

The Yankees have won two of their last three games and in the two wins in that span they have totaled 25 runs. They are in 2nd place in the AL East one game back of the Boston Red Sox. Houston had won two in a row where they totaled 17 runs before losing the first game of this series to the Yankees yesterday. They still have the best record in the Majors and they are running away with the AL West 13.5 games up on the 2nd place L.A. Angels. Montgomery has been solid in his last few starts and hope to help end the trend of the Yankees losing their last five games after a win in their previous game. He will do just that with a quality start in this game. On the other hand Francis will be facing a potent New York lineup and like his last outing he will not last long. The Yankees will take the 2nd game of this series and go for the sweep tomorrow.
