New York: Sonny Gray (6-5, 3.43 ERA)
Cleveland: Corey Kluber (8-3, 2.90 ERA)

Sonny Gray goes in this game tonight and makes his first start for the Yankees after coming over in a trade from the Oakland A’s. In his last start for Oakland he was solid not giving up any earned runs in six innings, but got little support in a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Gray faced the Indians on July 14th and did not give up any earned runs in six innings in a 5-0 A’s win. In Gray’s career against the Indians he is 3-2 with an ERA of 3.43.

Corey Kluber gets the call for the Indians in the first game of this series and in his last outing he gave up four earned runs in six innings in a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox. After the Indians lost three straight with him on the hill they have won his last two starts where he has given up five earned runs in 13 innings. Since coming off the DL in June Kluber has 120 strikeouts in 77 innings of work. This is his first start of the season against the Yankees and in five career starts against them he has an ERA of only 1.91. Overall, the Indians have won 25 of Kluber’s last 35 starts and they have won 19 of his last 26 home starts.

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Indians Prediction

After winning six straight the Yankees have lost two in a row and three of their last four games. They have only scored three runs in their last two games and while they have the Wild Card lead they are one game out of first place in the AL East. The Indians have lost three in a row, but are still in first place in the AL Central 2.5 games up on the Kansas City Royals. Before their three-game losing streak, the Indians has won nine in a row. Great pitching match up tonight and all eyes will be on Gray, who was the price hurler in the trade market. He will have a solid debut for New York, but has a tough match up facing Kluber at home. Don’t look for a high scoring game in this one and even on the road I see Gray having the better outing and the Yankees will take this game in a low scoring affair and hand the Indians their 4th straight loss.
