New York: Robert Gsellman (0-2, 6.23 ERA)
Atlanta: Julio Teheran (2-1, 3.38 ERA)

Robert Gsellman goes for the Mets tonight and in his last start he was lit up for five earned runs in four innings in a 8-2 loss to the Braves. New York had won his previous two starts, but the offense is to thank for that since he worked 11 innings and gave up 11 runs. In Gsellman’s four starts this season he has two losses and two no decisions and has gone 20 innings and given up 15 earned runs. He is allowing right-hand batters to hit .360 off him and in Gsellman’s only road start of the season he was shelled giving up eight runs in only four innings.

Julio Teheran gets the starting nod for the Braves and in his last outing he opposed Gsellman and went seven innings and gave up two earned runs in an 8-2 Atlanta win. He was hit hard in his previous outing, but in four of his five starts on the season he has not given up more than two earned runs. Teheran has two starts against New York this season and has held them to a .186 batting average and lasted 12 innings giving up two earned runs. While the Braves are only 5-15 in Teheran’s last 20 home starts they have won four of their last five games against a team with a losing record when he has been on the hill.

New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction

The Mets were not only embarrassed in their last game, but Ace Noah Syndergaard was hammered and left the game early with an injury. New York had won two in a row previous to that loss, but those were their only wins in their last nine games. They are in the basement of the NL East ½ game back of the Braves. Atlanta had their four-game winning streak snapped in their last game only scoring three runs while in the four-game streak they totaled 36 runs. Teheran has pitched very well in the two starts facing the Mets and has done so for the whole season with the exception of one start. He will have another good outing and just time the last time facing New York and Gsellman the Atlanta lineup will get it done at the dish and the Braves will take the first game of this series.
