Houston: Dallas Keuchel (14-5 2.90 ERA)
L.A. Clayton Kershaw (18-4 2.31 ERA)

Dallas Keuchel goes for the Astros in the first game of the World Series and he started Game 5 of the ALCS and was not sharp giving up four earned runs in four innings in a 5-0 loss. The Astros had won his previous two post-season starts where he totaled 12 innings and only gave up one earned run and struck out 17. Houston has lost two of Keuchel last three starts on the road and they lost his only road start in the playoffs. Overall, the Astros have won 20 of Keuchel’s last 28 road starts and they have won seven of his last 10 starts against a team that has a winning record. This game will be his first start of the season against the Dodgers.

Clayton Kershaw gets the call for the Dodgers in this series opener and he started Game 5 of the NLCS where he went six innings and only gave up one earned run on three hits in the 11-1 win. The Dodgers have won his three playoffs starts, and his last five overall, where he has totaled 17 innings and given up seven earned runs. This game will be Kershaw’s first start of the season facing the Astros. The Dodgers have won 20 of Kershaw’s last 28 interleague starts and they have won 41 of his last 53 home starts against a team with a winning record. He had a good outing in his last one, but has not been the Ace we are used to seeing in the post-season overall, as his career ERA is 2.36 while his career playoff ERA is 4.40.

Houston Astros vs. L.A. Dodgers World Series Game 1 Prediction

The Astros are coming off a tough ALCS where the Yankees took them to seven games with the home team winning every game. after losing the three games in the series in New York where they were outscored 19-5 they won the last two games at home outscoring the Yankees 11-1. In the five road playoffs games this post-season Houston is 1-4 and only scored eight runs in those games. L.A. took care of the Cubs in five games in the NLCS and their pitching was great in the series only giving up a total of eight runs. Keuchel had a solid season, but was not sharp in his last outing, which was on the road, and look for the Dodgers to get to him in this game. On the other side of the coin while Kershaw has had his issues in the playoffs in his career he is coming off a great last outing and he will have another one in what will be his first career start in the World Series. The Dodgers will take the first game of this series behind their Ace in Kershaw, who will keep the Houston lineup in check.
