Mike Fiers gets the call in this division match up and in his last outing he came out of the bullpen giving up two earned runs in one inning in a 9-8 loss to the Oakland A’s. While the Astros have won two of Fiers last three starts in his last two he has given up a total of 14 earned runs in only eight innings of work. In two starts against the Angels this season he is 2-0 with a solid ERA of 2.19 and in seven career starts facing them he is 3-2 with an ERA of 4.40.

Tyler Skaggs takes the hill tonight for the Angels and he gave up three earned runs in six innings in his last start, which was a 3-1 loss to the Oakland A’s. The Angels have lost four of his last five outings, including his last two, and in that span he has given up 18 earned runs in 23 innings. The one win in that span was facing the Astros when Skaggs went five innings and gave up four earned runs in a 7-6 L.A. win. In five career starts against the Astros he is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.38. Houston Astros vs. L.A. Angels Prediction

The Astros snapped their four-game losing streak with their win over the Angels in the first game of this series. Their pitching had been hammered in their four-game skid giving up a total of 41 runs before blanking the Angels in Game 1 of this series. With Cleveland on their 20-game win streak Houston now has the 2nd best record in the AL, but they have the AL West in the bag with a 14-game lead over the 2nd place Angels. L.A. has lost four of their last five games and their lineup has been struggling as of late totaling 10 runs in their last five games with five of them coming in the lone win. To make the playoffs the Halos have to nab a Wild Card and they are two games back of the Minnesota Twins for the 2nd spot. Fiers had been lit up in his last two starts and Skaggs has been less than stellar as of late. Have to go with L.A. in this one, as their lineup will snap out of their slump facing Fiers, who has given up 14 earned runs in his last two starts. L.A. will win this game and go for the series win tomorrow.
