MLB Betting Odds<br />
</h2>
<p>
Tuesday's MLB betting odds opened Chicago at around -190 over Colorado, while holding off on posting an over/under, as they often do with Cubs home games. That line was holding steady in the early betting action.

<h2>
Rockies vs. Cubs Set-Up<br />
</h2>
<p>
Colorado just swept three games at home from Toronto over the weekend, winning Sunday 5-1, outscoring the Blue Jays for the series 22-9. The Rockies then had Monday off.
</p>
<p>
Just before that Colorado swept four games at home from Arizona, and just before that they won the rubber match of a three-game series at home against Baltimore. So the Rockies own an eight-game winning streak, part of their current 11-2 run.
</p>
<p>
At 31-27 overall Colorado sits in second place in the NL West, 9.5 games behind the division-leading Dodgers. But the Rockies also trail Atlanta by just a half-game in the battle for the second National League wild-card spot.
</p>
<p>
The Cubs, meanwhile, just beat the Angels in a make-up game Monday 8-1. But just before that they got swept three games in St. Louis over the weekend, and just before that they dropped two of three in Houston. So even with Monday's win, the Cubs are only 3-8 over their last 11 games.
</p>
<p>
At 32-26 overall Chicago now sits in second place in the NL Central, one game back of division-leading Milwaukee, although they also lead the NL wild-card race by a half-game over the second-place Braves.
</p>
<p>
This series is the first meeting between these teams this season. Last year these teams split six games during the regular season, but the Rockies beat the Cubs in that NL wild-card game 2-1 in 13 innings also at Wrigley Field.
</p>
<h2>
Tuesday's Starting Arms<br />
</h2>
<p>
Hendricks, by our strict standards, is 5/11 on quality starts this season and one for his last three. Last Wednesday he held the Astros to one run and four hits through eight innings of a 2-1 Cubs win. But over his previous two starts, he gave up seven runs and 12 hits through 11 2/3 innings.
</p>
<p>
Chicago is 6-5 with Hendricks this season, and 5-1 over his last six starts.
</p>
<p>
In two starts against Colorado last year Hendricks allowed six runs and nine hits, including four dingers, through 12 2/3 innings. The Cubs split those two games.
</p>
<p>
Hoffman is 0/3 on quality starts this season. Last Wednesday he gave up three runs and seven hits through five innings of a 5-4 Rockies win over Arizona, and just before that he gave up five runs and seven hits, including a couple of homers, through five frames of an 8-6 Colorado victory.
</p>
<p>
The Rockies are 2-1 with Hoffman this year.
</p>
<p>
This will be Hoffman's first start against Chicago since 2017 when he held the Cubs to one run through 6 1/3 innings of a 9-1 win at Wrigley.
</p>
<h2>
Tuesday's Batting Splits<br />
</h2>
<p>
Colorado is batting .266/.330/.460 against right-handed pitching this season. This lineup has also scored at least five runs 12 times in its last 14 games.
</p>
<p>
Chicago is batting .258/.346/.458 against RH pitching. But this lineup has also been held to two runs or less three times over its last five games.
</p>
<h2>
The Bullpens<br />
</h2>
<p>
The Rockies bullpen owns a 4.08 ERA this season and a 1.36 WHIP.
</p>
<p>
The Cubs pen owns a 4.06 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP.
</p>
<h2>
Totals Report<br />
</h2>

Overs are 31-25 in Rockies games this season, but only 13-13 in road games.
</li>
<li>
Overs are 32-25 in Cubs games this season.
</li>
<li>
Totals are split 14-14 in games played at Wrigley Field this season.
</li>

Chicago owns the edge in the pitching match-up but with other factors coming out about equal, we see great value here with a hot team getting such an attractive underdog price. We're going with Colorado for our free MLB pick for Tuesday.
