In Game 4 of this series the Blue Jays beat the Indians 5-1, but they are still down 3-1.

Cleveland: Ryan Merritt (1-0, 1.64 ERA)

Toronto: Marco Estrada (9-9, 2.25 ERA)

Rookie Ryan Merritt goes for the Indians today and he has not pitched in the post-season. He only has one career start and that was at the end of the season facing the Kansas City Royals where he went five innings and only gave up one earned run on three hits in a 7-2 Cleveland win. Merritt has only pitched 11 innings in his career giving up two earned runs. He spent most of the season in AAA Columbus where he went 11-8 with an ERA of 3.70. He is only the 2nd pitcher in Major League history to start a post-season game after only one career start.

Marco Estrada gets the nod for the Blue Jays and he started Game 1 of this series giving up two earned runs in eight innings, but got no support in a 2-0 Toronto loss. He had a solid first post-season start in the ALDS going eight innings and only giving up one earned run in a 10-1 win over the Texas Rangers. The Blue Jays are 1-4 in Estrada’s last five home starts.

Cleveland Indians at Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

Estrada got his first complete game in the Game 1 start, but still took the loss. In two regular season games facing the Indians he is 0-0 with an ERA of 3.75. The Blue Jays finally got on track on offense scoring five runs in the Game 4 win after totaling only three runs in the first three games of the series. The Indians have been winning in the series with their pitching, as they have only totaled nine runs in the four games. Estrada was on the hill last season in Game 5 of the ALCS and had a good outing in helping the Blue Jays stave off elimination in their series facing the eventual World Series winners Kansas City Royals. He will not be so fortunate tonight, as Miller will have a good start against a Blue Jays team that has never faced him and the Indians will win and advance to the Fall Classic.
