Chicago: Jose Quintana (10-11 4.27 ERA)
Milwaukee: Chase Anderson (11-3, 2.74 ERA)

Jose Quintana goes for the Cubs today and in his last outing he gave up three earned runs in six innings in a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs have won six of his last seven starts including his last four where he has gone 24 innings and given up eight earned runs. Since coming to the Cubs in a trade with the Chicago White Sox Quintana is 6-3 with an ERA of 3.95 in 12 starts. In three career starts facing the Brewers he is 1-1 with an ERA of only 1.29 and in his lone start facing them this season, while with the Cubs on July 28th he went six innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits in a 2-1 Chicago loss. The Cubs have won Quintana’s last four starts against teams from the NL Central.

Chase Anderson gets the starting nod for the Brewers and he had a great last outing not giving up any runs in six innings in a 1-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Brewers have won four of his last five starts including his last three where he has only given up one earned run in 16 innings of work and in that span he shut out the Cubs in five innings in a 15-2 Milwaukee win. Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

Every game in this series has gone to extra innings and the Brewers had a dramatic comeback in Game 3 with a game-tying HR in the 9th inning and then Travis Shaw hit a game-winning two-run blast in the 10th inning. The Brewers are 4.5 games back of the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central and only one game back of the Colorado Rockies for the 2nd NL Wild Card. Before the comeback in the Game 3 win the Brewers were 0-54 this season after trailing after the 8th inning. The win in the game snapped Milwaukee’s three-game skid and they lost the first two games of this big division series. The Brewers are the home betting underdog in this game even though Anderson has been lights out as of late and pitched five scoreless innings and only allowed one hit in a win over the Cubs on September 9th. Quintana has also been solid lately, but Anderson will have the better outing and lead the Brew Crew to a win salvaging a split in this series.
