Saturday's Pitching Match-Up
Mills is 0/1 on quality starts this season, to go along with five appearances in relief. Last Sunday he got clipped by St. Louis for five runs and three home runs through just 2 2/3 innings, although Chicago won that game 6-5 in 10 innings. And over his last three appearances Mills has allowed 15 runs and 19 hits through just 8 1/3 innings of work.
This will be Mills’ first action against Boston since his ML debut back in 2016, which is a long time ago.
Winckowski is 1/4 on quality starts this year but he’s been good lately. Last Saturday he held Cleveland to two runs and six hits through 5 1/3 innings of a 4-2 Red Sox victory. And over his last three starts he’s allowed four runs and 17 hits through 17 innings.
Boston is 3-1 with Winckowski this season and that’s what they should be, based on his performances.
This will be Winckowski’s first career action against the Cubs.
