Red Sox-Yankees MLB Betting Preview<br />
</h2>
<p>
Boston grabbed the opener of this series Friday night 5-4 in 11 innings. The Red Sox led 2-0 early, trailed 3-2, and later led 4-3 but allowed New York to force extra innings with a run in the bottom of the ninth. Boston then won it with a run on a wild pitch in the top of the 11th and a scoreless inning from reliever Ryan Brasier to close things out. The Sox won Friday as +140 underdogs on the dime line and the game played over a total of eight runs. Friday's victory snapped a four-game losing skid for Boston. Meanwhile, with Friday's loss, the Yankees are now 1-5 over their last six games. At 62-28 overall, New York still leads the AL East by 12 games over second-place Tampa Bay, but its lead over Houston in the battle for the best record in the American League is down to 3.5 games. At 48-43 overall, the Red Sox trail the Yankees by 14.5 games in the AL East, but they also sit tied with Toronto for the No. 3 spot in the AL wild-card standings. New York leads the season series with Boston four games to three.

<h2>
Saturday's Pitching Match-Up<br />
</h2>
<p>
This pitching match-up is a rematch of a game played last Sunday, an 11-6 Boston victory. <a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/79628&quot; title="Jameson Taillon Pitching Game Logs">Taillon is only 4/17 on quality starts</a> this season and 0 for his last seven. Last Sunday, against these Red Sox, he gave up six runs and three home runs through five innings of that 11-6 New York loss. And over his last four starts, he's been gouged for 20 runs and 30 hits, including seven homers, through 21 innings. The Yankees are 13-4 with Taillon this season, but that's at least three games better than it should be, based on his performances. Over his last four starts against the Red Sox, three last year, and the one last weekend, Taillon allowed 12 runs and 21 hits through 22 2/3 innings. The Yanks split those four games. <a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/100337&quot; title="Nick Pivetta Pitching Game Stats">Pivetta</a> is 9/18 on quality starts this year but 0 for his last two. Last Sunday, against these Yankees, he got clipped for six runs and two home runs through just 3 1/3 innings, although Boston rallied to win that game 11-6. And just before that, he gave up seven runs and eight hits through 5 2/3 innings of an 8-4 Sox loss to Tampa. Boston is 10-8 with Pivetta this season, and that's about what they should be. Over four career starts against New York, two last year and two already this season, Pivetta allowed 15 runs and 19 hits through 16 innings. The Red Sox lost three of those four games.

Red Sox at Yankees Prediction 7/16

We give Taillon a very slight edge in the pitching match-up because of the slightly better performance against tonight's opponents. From there, we give New York an edge in the bullpen comparison while we'll call the splits with the sticks a push. But when we add all that up, it does not warrant a price of -160. We search every day for baseball betting value on those dime lines, and we like the value with Boston at the underdog price Saturday.
