Two teams that are stuck in the middle of the Bundesliga league table will now clash against one another on Saturday when Augsburg will play host to Werder Bremen. Augsburg managed to snap out of their funk last week when they recorded a nice win on the road. Werder Bremen are also coming off a win, and they have been in much better form than their opponents lately.

Augsburg (9-9-8) were not in the best of shapes before their road match against Hannover last week. However, they were solid in the first half, where they managed to score twice, against just once by their opponents. Their opponents were much better in the second half, but Augsburg not only held on to their lead, but they also managed to increase it at the 83rd minute, for the final 3-1 solid win. Even so, that was just their third win in nine matches in 2018 (3-4-2), having kept only two clean sheets in that span. Augsburg is now sitting at the 8th spot of the league table with 35 points, three points behind Hoffenheim and just five points behind RB Leipzig and the top-6 spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season. Augsburg has not been anything special at home so far in the season (5-4-4), where they have won just two of their last six (2-2-2).

On the other hand, Werder Bremen (7-10-9) are coming into this match after a commanding performance against Koln at home last week. They were dominant in the first half of that match, on both ends of the pitch, but only managed to score a single goal. The second half was much more balanced, where Koln managed to pull even at the 53rd. However, Werder Bremen took the lead once again just five minutes later and eventually sealed the three points with another goal at the 90th minute. They have been alternating between win-loss and draw in their last fourteen matches in all competitions, but have lost just one of their last eight (4-1-3). They are now sitting at the 13th spot of the league table with 30 points, only five points ahead of the relegation zone, and five points behind their upcoming opponents. They have played poorly on the road so far in the season (2-6-5), where they have won just one of their last six in all competitions (1-3-2).
