An inspiring MLS week is coming our way, and there is a massive match-up going to take place on Saturday when the city of New York will be split in two. The New York Red Bulls will play host to NYCFC in the first New York Derby of the season, as both teams will fight for supremacy. The Red Bulls are coming off a narrow win on the road, while NYCFC had a slightly easier job against FC Dallas last week.

The New York Red Bulls (4-3-0) have been engaged in some CONCACAF Champions League matches not too long ago and have failed to make a good start in the new MLS season. However, they are slowly finding their footing, as they are coming off a competitive match against the LA Galaxy on the road. They had already taken a two-goal lead by the 49th minute, but their opponents had pulled even by the 66th. The Red Bulls didn’t stand down, as they scored the winning goal at the 84th minute. They are now sitting at the 6th spot of the Eastern Conference with 12 points after seven matches, four points behind the 3rd Orlando City who have played one more game. The Red Bulls will be missing Duncan and Lade in this match. They have been good at home so far in the season (3-1-0), where they have only lost to Chicago, which was the only match they've failed to score. The Red Bulls will come into this match with a couple of injury concerns, as Duncan and Lade are still being listed as unavailable.

On the other hand, NYCFC (6-1-2) were coming off their first loss of the season when they played host to FC Dallas last week, but they managed to return to winning ways. They took an early lead at the 3rd minute but were equalized just seven minutes later. Even so, David Villa scored two goals in the second half to eventually help NYCFC reach an excellent 1-3 win at home. NYCFC needed to return to winning ways after grabbing just one point from their previous two matches against Portland and Atlanta. NYCFC is still sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference with 20 points, only one point ahead of Atlanta United who has played one less match. NYCFC have been competitive on the road as well (2-1-2), where they have scored two goals in four of their five games so far. They will have just a couple of injury concerns ahead of this match, as Tajouri and Awuah are currently being listed as doubtful to participate.
