Someone would think that Group B is one of the most predictable in the World Cup, but the reality might be slightly different. In the first match of this group, Morocco will play against Iran on Friday. The two teams know that with Spain and Portugal in the group, the chances for qualification are minimal. However, let's take a look at what can go differently.

<p>
Morocco might not be very well-known to the general public, but they are one of the teams that are most likely to cause an upset. They might be lacking a fearsome name in the offense, and their goalkeeper is not anything great either. However, they have a lot of quality in the midfield and the defense as well. Their best player is Juventus' defender Mehdi Benatia, who will surely lock down their back line. Morocco's midfield consists of a lot of players who are currently playing in France, Germany and the Netherlands. Players like Ziyech, El Ahmady, Harit, and Belhanda will cause problems to the opposing defenses. Moreover, they have a great coach in Herve Renard, who has a great bio when coaching other African teams, as he has captured the Copa Africa twice in the past.

On the other hand, we have Iran, who is considered to be the weakest team in the Group. Iran easily finished at the top of their qualifying group without losing a single match (6-0-4). They had South Korea, Syria, Uzbekistan, China and Qatar in their group, and even though they scored just ten goals in 10 matches, they conceded only two in the process. They have also done a great job in their warm-up friendlies over the past eight months or so, but they have played against similar teams. They might be lacking the big names on their roster, but their biggest asset is their coach, Carlos Queiroz. He was the assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson in Manchester United for numerous years, and he has also coached Real Madrid.

Morocco vs Iran Prediction 06/15/2018

With Spain and Portugal clashing against one another in the other match of the group, things might get complicated. Morocco has a better team than Iran, at least on paper, and they know that this will be their easiest match in the group. A win here would give them strong qualifying chances, and I am positive that they can cause upsets against either Spain or Portugal. I will back them up in this match, as they are one of my personal favorites.
