FC Dallas emerged victorious in the 4th round of the US Open Cup but were up against a much weaker side. They only recorded a slim, yet significant, win and are now undefeated in over a month. They will now return home for their next match, where they will play host to Montreal Impact on Saturday. Montreal has been utterly awful in the MLS lately, but they got a breather last week when they defeated Houston.

FC Dallas (7-1-5) knew they would have an easy job when they were matched against USL side San Antonio in the US Open Cup. It’s not like they encountered any major problems, but they scored the only goal of the match at the start of the second half to win by a slim 1-0. That was their fourth consecutive win in all competitions, as FC Dallas are now undefeated in their last seven (5-0-2). They are still sitting at the 2nd spot of the Western Conference with 26 points, just two points behind Conference leaders SKC who have played one more match. FC Dallas has also been quite strong at home so far (4-0-4) but has managed to keep just two clean sheets there. Moreover, they have only kept just two clean sheets in their last eight matches regardless of venue.

On the other hand, Montreal Impact (4-10-0) has been a total mess this season, and it doesn't seem to get any better. However, they recorded a nice 0-1 win at home against Houston last week. They needed to return to winning ways, as they had lost eight of their previous nine matches. Even so, they are now sitting at the 9th spot of the Eastern Conference with 12 points. They have the worst defense in the MLS with 29 conceded and have lost the most matches than any other side. Needless to say, they have been equally bad on the road so far (1-7-0), where they have conceded multiple goals on six occasions. They will be making this trip without Choiniere and Diallo, while Cabrera and Fisher are still being listed as doubtful to participate.
