Peru managed to qualify from the CONMEBOL qualifying group, at the expense of Chile. They are now getting ready for their fifth participation in the most significant international tournament, but their group is far from easy. They are up against France, Denmark, and Australia, and they are expected to fight to avoid the final spot. Peru will now commence their World Cup duties with a hard match against Denmark on Saturday. Denmark will be looking to fight off Peru in this match, as a loss here would destroy their qualifying chances.

Peru got some excellent news when talismanic forward Guerrero was cleared to play after a mishap with some uncontrolled substances. That fact alone is good enough to give a massive morale boost to the Peruvians, who now have a fighting chance in this group. A loss to France is considered as a given, but Peru feel confident now. A win against Denmark in the premiere would seriously increase their qualifying chances, as they are the main competitors for the 2nd spot. Peru finished at the 5th spot of the CONMEBOL qualifying group with 26 points, just as many as Chile but with bigger goal difference. They remained undefeated in their last eight qualifying matches, against some strong opponents like Colombia, Argentina, and Uruguay. They had to play an inter-continental playoff against New Zealand, where after a goalless draw on the road they won by 0-2 at home. Since then they have played five friendlies (4-0-1) and were actually pretty great as they defeated Croatia, Iceland, and Scotland among others. Besides Paolo Guerrero, Jefferson Farfan is also one of their star players, and the two players will do the heavy lifting in the offense.

On the other hand, Denmark had a rather easy job in the World Cup qualifiers, as they finished at the 2nd spot of Group E (6-2-2). They were then matched to play against Ireland in the playoffs, where after a goalless draw at home, they destroyed them by 5-1 on the road. Denmark is also coming to the World Cup for the fifth time in their history, and their best run was in 1998 when they reached the quarter-finals. They are looking to go past the group phase, as they are in a favorable group. However, they will need to be careful against Peru and Australia, as both teams can cause damage. Their biggest asset is Tottenham’s midfielder Christian Eriksen, who is one of the strongest midfielders in the Premier League. In their recent friendlies, Denmark has only defeated Mexico and Panama, lost to Jordan and Sweden and played for draws against Sweden and Chile.

Denmark vs Peru Prediction 06/16/2018

Peru knows that they have to contain Christian Eriksen in this match, as he is a constant threat to the opposing defenses. They are a very physical side, and there is a good chance we will see numerous yellow cards in this match. Eriksen will seriously impact Denmark's game, but they do have some talent on the wings as well. Peru is not known for their offensive approach, but their two best players are their forwards. This is a tricky match to predict, but I feel that Peru does have a lot of chances to pull an upset here. We just might see goals from both sides in this match.
