The Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) and Seattle Seahawks (1-0) will convene in a Super Bowl XL re-match when the two sides square off in an AFC vs. NFC cross-conference clash. Kick-off time is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, when the two meet at Heinz Field in the Steel City. Coverage will be available on FOX. Seattle and Pittsburgh last met in 2015 in what was a high-octane offensive affair with the Hawks getting the best of the Black and Yellow 39-30 in Seattle. The result enabled the Seahawks to cover as a three-point favorite.

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers Key Injury Concerns

Both the Seahawks and Steelers head into this contest with no significant injury concerns to key starters or personnel.

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers Overview

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks squeaked by the pesky Cincinnati Bengals in its opening game in Seattle on Sunday. Despite closing as a 9.5-point favorite, the Seahawks defeated the Bengals by a narrow margin in a 21-20 thriller.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers come into this contest on the heels of a Sunday Night thrashing they would like to forget. Closing as a 5.5-point underdog, the Black and Yellow were nowhere near to a cover against the reigning and defending champion New England Patriots. The Pats did a demolition job on the Steelers and defeated them 33-3 in a primetime nationally-televised thumping.

Reasons to Avoid Seattle

The Seahawks were as much as a five-point underdog in this market but have since dropped to their current position as a -3.5-point dog. As a result of the public jumping all over the points, the value has been extracted from this line on Seattle before we even get into the fact that a public dog is often a sign of an undervalued favorite. Given what transpired last week on Sunday Night Football, this will undoubtedly be the case for the Steelers. However, Seattle also had to fight hard to get the win against Cincinnati as they never were able to get enough distance from the double-digit dog and had to grind out the victory through the fourth quarter. Given the nature of the win coupled with public sentiment, Seattle is a prime fade target heading into this contest.

Reasons to Back Pittsburgh

The Steelers offer minimal appeal after the beat-down they took at the hand of New England. However, it is in spots like this where Pittsburgh actually provides the most value. Had Pittsburgh made a game of it with New England or had they even pulled an upset, we would be forced to lay perhaps double the points with this same Pittsburgh club. This is the ideal team to back Pittsburgh, albeit we are getting on-board a short-sold favorite which means we are laying fewer points than the market suggests. This makes the Steelers a true value play.

Seahawks at Steelers Prediction 9/15/2019

Some of the sharper sportsbooks have priced the Steelers a half-point ahead of the trending market figure of -3.5 which says to us that a bounce-back seems to be on the horizon for the Black and Yellow. However, it is hard to imagine that Pittsburgh does not respond to their Week One debacle as they are captained by one of the most consistent coaches in the NFL, Mike Tomlin. Though Pittsburgh missed the post-season in 2018, the Steelers have been the model of consistency as they have never won less than eight games under his tenure since he took the reins in 2007. I like Mike to circle the wagons here and get Pittsburgh back on track. I think the defenses will control this game for the most part, but I see that playing into Pittsburgh's hands with thousands of Terrible Towels waving in their support. A late touchdown will send Pittsburgh takers to the window as I have the Steelers winning this game by at least six points.
